After Project Runway made this place famous, every aspiring designer raced down here to become the next Marc Jacobs. And it's worth every sprint.

Tips for Mood Fabric Inc

March 11, 2013

I've placed several orders over the internet with them.

The fabrics are good, but they ship up to 5 business days. In fact, on my recent order they forgot about it, so I actually had to call them and remind, but they didn't even apologize.

Even when I asked what's the hold up I was told in a bloody rude manner that there's a line and I can't be put on top of the list just because I placed an order.

Anyways, there are other places where you can get good fabrics, so don't focus on moodfabrics only.

Moodfabrics.cm =Worst online shopping experience I ever had. Shopping online at mood was awful. I placed my order on Dec. 14, needing to get my fabric at most a week later to make my Christmas present. Apparently there was a problem with my order without any fault of my own, and I had absolutely no notification of this. I then called on Dec. 18, demanding an explanation since it was not shipped yet, and said that I needed one day shipping. The girl working assured me that she has talked to her manager and that my package would come one day later on Saturday. Also by now, mood had already gladly taken my money. It never came on Saturday, and when I called Monday morning, the tracking number I was given placed the order to be received on the 24th, and that there was nothing they could do. The excuse that I got was that the girl who I spoke to on Friday was fired. Nonetheless they did absolutely nothing to accommodate me in any way, and I'm stuck because they made a mistake and didn't care to fix it. Don't shop here, give your money to a better business.

Disgusting Service. i've been told by many people that MOOD was the place to go if your looking for fabric, so i recently just went and i couldn't find the stuff i need , i decided to ask for some help. The sales person gave me this look like im not professional enough to shop at their store.

WORST EMPLOYEES!!!. DO NOT SHOP AT THIS STORE!!

SALES PEOPLE DO NOT WANT TO HELP YOU, YOU ORDER STUFF ON THE INTERNET AND IT TAKE THEM MONTHS TO GET YOU A SWATCH!!! THEY BETTER HOPE PROJECT RUNWAY STAYS ON BECAUSE THAT IS THE ONLY WAY THEY WILL STAY IN BUSINESS!!

THERE ARE A MILLION FABRIC STORES IN THE GARMENT DISTRICT, THEY ARE ALL HYPE!!

WHO'S WHO OF THE INDUSTRY MAY SHOP THERE BUT THAT IS WHO THEY HELP NOT THE LITTLE PEOPLE!!

TAKE YOUR BUSINESS TO PEOPLE THAT CARE CAUSE THEY DON'T!!

MUST ASK FOR LENA. I spent an hour searching (and not finding) what I needed in Mood. The salesperson was horrible, actually asked a gorgeous blonde if she needed help standing right next to us, then walked away from myself and my struggling to reach a particular fabric Grandmother. He had to be flagged down and was NOT helpful WHATSOEVER and walked away before i was even done asking him a question. He ignored my grandmother. THEN, it all turned around when we found Lena. She was over in the novelty fabric area and she was an absolute JOY to help us. She knew her stuff, was very pleasant, helpful and sweet. She found us the PERFECT fabric in minutes that we couldnt find in an hour. She was a lifesaver. ASK FOR HER and you'll always return to Mood.

Sales Lady Wouldn't Listen to Me. I went to Mood with a swatch of electric blue charmuse and asked a sales lady to show me ANY FABRIC that would come close to the COLOR. She argued with me that they wouldn't have the same color in charmuse. When I told her I don't care what fabric it was, as long as it was close to the COLOR of the swatch. She kept arguing with me pulling out swatches only of charmuse saying she couldn't match the color in charmuse... Finally I took my swatch and looked for it myself.

Rude Service. I visited this store recently and was unimpressed by the quality of the staff. The fabric collection is huge but service is below average and down right rude. One of the attendants even made fun of me when I asked if they had any low priced cotton fabrics. At checkout, I asked the same attendant (politely!) to measure the fabric length again, he started arguing with me resulting in my walking out of the place. The place left a very bad taste in my mouth. At the very least, the staff should know how to talk to customers!!!

Terrific Selection...But You Pay For It. Recently visited Mood. Upon entry saw Angela from Project Runway. The selection here is tremendous and the staff really is quite friendly. Located on the third floor, so you'll need to take the elevator to get there. And dress lightly because when I visited it was pretty warm inside. I'm new to the NY fabric scene so difficult to compare. But in relation to other fabric stores I visited in other cities it was expensive, but I suppose you pay for locale and designer fabric.
