Avoid this place

by fat333

If I were starving and came up to this place I would rather die, And if you try to eat there you just might. You can't understand the wait staff as they try to hand you a filthy menu, at a dirty table. Best of all the pastrami is lousy. I could go on and on but I am off to Katz's deli for a real pastrami sandwich.......

  • Pros: none
  • Cons: dirty and bad food

DIRTY, UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE!!

by 12luv03

Horrible customer service! My partner and i went for early dinner, good enough it wasn't busy, we wanted to sit by the window, Oh my Gosh, it was a big NO NO NO!! by the host, a short bald man, The reason why? Because those tables are for 4people only!! I'll understand if it was busy, but the place was just empty!! Even with the really bad attitude we got from that man, we decided to stay..We should have known better!! Trust me!! The food was tasteless but we didn't complain, we just wanted to leave..The service was ok, t'ill our waiter give us a check including the 'TIPS"!!!! They figure out simpy because we were talking another language other than english. But Guess what STAGE DELI?? We are foreigners that been living in America for the longest!! It's simply Disrespectful and illegal to add Service Charge if not stated on your menu or anywhere clients can see it!! You are lucky u haven't been slapped with a suit yet! Never experienced anything like it, and we go dinning often.

  • Pros: Nothing really
  • Cons: Tips included, discriminate,Rude, Disrespectful!!

An Excellent Deli!

by kranickm

Please do NOT listen to people who rag about the prices at this place. Only two NYC eateries, the Stage Deli and Ben Benson's, are worth the prices they charge for food. Sandwiches are gigantic and fit for sharing, fries are thick and delicious (order with gravy), Dr. Brown's soda is always cold and good, and the cheesecake.....BEST IN NEW YORK, maybe BEST ANYWHERE. A slice can be shared among 5 people. The pickles are fresh and thick and crunchy. Yes, it is small, yes, it is always busy, but you are in New York City. Atmospheric restaurant, traditional loud, New York deli. You want quiet, get the food to go and sit at home. The walls are lined with pictures of the Broadway stars that have eaten there. Some have sandwiches named after them. The wait staff is busy like crazy, so cut them some slack. This is such a terrific, authentic New York deli. Just relax and enjoy!

  • Pros: Delicious, stacked sandwiches worth every penny
  • Cons: Loud noisiness of traditional New York deli
