Great bike rental & nice people!. My boyfriend and I had a great experience renting bikes here. The bike rental was more expensive than the street peddler guys, but in this case you get what you pay for!! These bikes were top notch! As the store is close to the park, it was very convenient for us too. The guy at SBR Multi-Sports shop was very friendly and helpful and adjusted the bikes for us before we went on our bike excursion.

Fun trip & nice bikes!. This was our 2nd time to NYC and I recommend this, we did a lot of the "touristy" things so I was a little skeptical about this but it turned out great. We had two tour guides Jon & Richard who were like comedy brothers or something. Being a avid biker, I know good bikes when i see them and these were sweet bikes, apparently they got in a full new set of them. They took us all over the park, told us about movies and stuff and yea ya know was just great all over well, only one tiny thing, i wish the seat were a little more padded, guys fix that and you'll have it all.

They want your money, that's all. When I called to make the reservation, they insisted on asking for my credit card number before they would give me the information I requested. When I arrived at the meeting place, it's a public sidewalk, not a place of business. The guide told me to ride on pedestrian paths, which is illegal and dangerous. Also, she missed a lot of interesting information that I found in a guidebook and on a different tour.

Awesome bike tour. This was the highlight of our holiday trip to the city! I was a bit nervous because I'm a bit out of shape, but Richard our tour guide was very sweet and gave me a brand new bike to help make me comfortable for the tour. Richard gave us a lot of good movie scenes tidbits and celebrity sighting gossip too as part of the movie scenes tour. We got a 10 percent discount when we mentioned that we found out about it on the internet too. Overall, a great way to see the park and burn some calories. Next time we'll come during the summer when the weather is a bit warmer!

Effortless cycling through the city's verdant wonderland.. Overview
As long as you can ride a bike, you can do this tour. The pace is slow; the most challenging section (the incline of Cedar Hill) is only moderately difficult. Furthermore, your guide--probably an enthusiastic actor who's in between roles--will encourage you to stop, take pictures, and bide your time as you cruise through the tree-lined Literary Walk of the Grand Promenade. Popular with natives as well as out-of-towners, this tour gains character from locals who periodically interrupt the narrative to put in their own two cents.

The Experience
Already familiar with Belvedere Castle, Strawberry Fields and the Shakespeare Garden? Central Park Bike Tours offers other scenic routes outside the green space. The Movie Scenes Bike Tour takes you to celluloid-captured locations, the Picnic Plan features a gourmet lunch on Sheep's Meadow and the Manhattan Bike Tour (which lasts three hours) promises greater sweep and a helmet to go along with the height-appropriate mountain bike.

Old bikes, no brakes?. We were disappointed with the bikes, as they are pretty cheap "no-name" and not maintained well at all. The first bike that they gave me had no working rear brakes; the 2nd bike they gave me was too small but there weren't any other bikes available. A handful of other people on the tour seemed to have problems with their bikes too, especially when trying to shift.

They should tell you when you make a reservation about helmets, that way you can bring your own. Otherwise, they try to make you wear an old raggedy helmet.

On the other hand, the guide was great and Central Park is beautiful!

Buyer be ware. In spite of reading a negative review (taken with a grain of salt) I signed up on line. CPBT called to fill me in on details (gathering place, time, etc.) and obtain charge information to guarantee reservations. I cheerfully gave them this information but noted that I had only been able to see one review of their tour and that it had been negative. I asked if there were other reviews I had possibly missed. I asked for a response to the negative afheyka review. if there were maps of the tour available and if the tour guides were reasonably profficient in english. The caller from CPBT refused to answer any of my questions and we mutually agreed that this tour was not for us.

CPBT may present the prospective participant with a very enjoyable experience. I do not know. My recommendation to the prospective customer is BUYER BE WARE.

Bad decision to do this tour.. After signing up for the Central Park Tour online two days previous, I arrived to find confusion and no organization among the staff. They could not find my information even though I had paid via the web site, and had received a phone call from the company (and I use the term sparingly) verifying everything was fine. This was no leisurely bike tour and 8 of us were left in the dust with no sight of the tour group ahead. We were not supplied with a map so we even knew where we were. After walking our bike back to the starting point we were hassled in dealing with return of funds. It remains to be seen if this company will credit us back. The people running the tour spoke very poor english and were hard to understand.
