The Scene
It's a big, splashy, exuberant place, perfect for a night on the town with fish-loving friends. You could dock a yacht in the huge open dining room, where curving concrete-faced walls are softened by gauzy white curtains anchored with fistfuls of garlic bulbs. A stunning fish display lets diners choose their dinner from the day's catch. The legions of well-informed servers stay busy without hovering.

The Food
This isn't for those on a budget, but portions are generous. A heap of smoky, tender grilled octopus; a teetering stack of lightly fried, addictively salty eggplant and zucchini chips; a four-spreads platter including suave garlic-almond skordalia and punchy feta-pepper dip--share these to save room for a whole grilled fish, like the delectable dourade, fresh from Greek waters and served split, boned and simply seasoned with olive oil and capers.

Initially, I was little wary of the suits and ties (given the location), but the servers greeted us with courtesy. The tables were little cramped -- I was able to listen in on conversations

Everything - the host, wait staff, food, atmosphere, wine selection - is fantastic. I need my Estiatorio Milos?s fix at least every few months and I'm never disappointed. Great place for celebrations, romantic dinners, close family events.

Milos is another wonderful restaurant to visit anytime, but particularly prior to a concert at Carnegie Hall. At that time there's a prix fixe three course menu. Should you order that way or from the a la carte menu you'll be fine, but if you venture to the area where you select your fish by the pound, you can expect a bill to rival the national debt. Milos' fish is exquisitely fresh and prepared simply, as wonderful Greek food should be. Their appetizers also are wonderful and make a meal in themselves.
