The Scene – Long before Babbo and Fiamma came on the scene, San Domenico was showing New York what refined Italian cuisine was all about. This elegant eatery at the base of Central Park still draws a well-heeled crowd, and the decor, featuring pieces of modern art hanging throughout the window-lined dining room, adds to the air of subdued opulence. – – The Food – Chef Odette Fada matches the setting's sophistication with a menu that melds old world technique with creative flair. She uses a sea urchin filling for her delicate raviolini and cocoa powder to add an earthy…
Delizioso!

A WONDERFUL Restaurant Week experience! I went last night with my father and sister and from beginning to end, we all thought it was delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful. When trying to decide between the restaurant week prix fixe and the regular menu, the server assured me that the soft egg filled raviolo (creamy and delightful) was their signature dish and the same on both menus. He added the the veal (mouthwatering) was also identical. Can you imagine a server selling me the prix fixe rather than upselling?! Wow! My family had the mussels and white bean appetizer and the scallops entree (from the prix fixe) and were very satisfied. We did add on the yummy buffalo mozzerella caprese and a lovely bottle of wine. The sommelier was friendly and helped me select from the extensive wine list. He suggested affordable wines (around $70) based on my preferences, when he could have pushed for more pricey ones, since there's a wide choice of wines in the $500-$1500 range (they start around $45). The sweet ending was a chocolate polenta.
Also important, although a jacket is required and the atmosphere is fine dining, it is not stuffy or stuck up. The whole evening was enjoyable and incredibly tasty!
- Pros: Delicious, Great Restaurant Week Value
- Cons: None
Always our FIRST stop when we visit New York!

San Domenico never fails in providing the BEST service/hospitality and authentic Italian food we've had. We never visit New York without enjoying an amazing meal with Marisa May and the amazing team at San Domenico. We always are made to feel like the most important people in the restaurant. My husband and I recommend it to everyone we know who is visiting New York (ranging from my parents to a United States Senator) and no one is ever disappointed! My favorite is always risotto but my husband tries something new each time. He loves it all. I consider San Domenico a "must do" when dining in New York City.
- Pros: Service and Food

THE BEST OF ITALY, IN NEW YORK!!!
by christiano
San Domenico is one in a million. The owners (Tony & Marisa) spend every waking hour wondering how they can make the dining experience for their customers better, and it shows. The food is an experience beyond description. Tony & Odette (his award winning chef of over 10 years) travel to Italy several times a year scouting out the best dishes, sauces and ingredients to then come back to NY and make a dish fit for a Roman Emperor. Marisa and her dedicated staff are always making sure that every customer feel like they are the only ones there, they never miss a beat and know exactly how to make you feel special. If you know of a place that can do this night after night, month after month, year after year, as San Domenico does, I'd love to know.
- Pros: Food, ambiance
