I agree - Delivery nightmare but also awful food.. It took over 1.5 hours to receive my food. They couldn't locate the delivery guy nor when I asked why they were late - give me a good answer. "we Busy" is all I received. I said "Do you care that it's been so long to get my food?" answer: "No." does anyone care? "No."

On top of this, I'm 5 blocks away. When the food came, the cold drinks were warm and the food was cold. The dishes were awful and we will never order from there again.

Delivery nightmare!. I usually love Thai Basil, but never again after tonight. It was a delivery nightmare. I ordered some food around ten o'clock, thinking that some Thai would be the perfect way to end the evening. At 10:45, I got a phone call saying to come downstairs, the delivery guy was waiting. I went downstairs.. no delivery guy. Okay, maybe he was lost. I called the 646 number back and told them there was no one outside. The person on the phone (a woman, who was not the delivery person) insisted that the delivery guy was outside, then insisted I was at a different address (even though I checked the order later and they had the correct info). After a couple minutes of back and forth, she screamed, "I don't care! I don't care!" several times before hanging up on me.

Nonplussed, I called the restaurant. The woman there told me the guy was on his way, that all was well, and she would speak to the person who had yelled at me. Fine. I waited. At 11:15, the food still hadn't arrived and I was ravenous, so I called again. The same woman told me that the delivery guy had left a half hour before and that she didn't know where he was. Made sense, considering the 10:45 phone call. She didn't seem to care when I pointed out that my food would be cold by the time it arrived.

At 11:20, my doorbell finally rang. I considered not tipping the delivery guy, but it didn't seem to be his fault so I tipped him. As I was closing the door, the woman from the restaurant called and told me that the delivery person didn't have my phone number and that was why it took so long. Um. How did they manage to call me at 10:45 without my phone number? The woman on the phone only asked if all the food had arrived (it had) and gave me an attitude when I told her it was cold. After an hour and a half of waiting (and becoming steadily hungrier), I was more than disappointed.

There are other Thai restaurants in the neighborhood and I would go to any of them before ordering again from this place.

Amazing Thai food. I am obsessed with Thai food and I am so happy that I have discovered this restaurant. Thai Basil is unbelievably cheap (only about $9 an entree), and has amazing service. Every time I have gone in, the staff has been very attentive, and very sweet. I always get the Calamari as an appetizer, and Thai Basil Fried rice as an entree, and they have never disappointed. The restaurant is a bit tiny, but I've never had to wait, and me and my friends have always thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. Don't expect anything romantic or fancy, just expect a nice, casual, lunch or dinner from this great find.

Editorial Review. Neighborhood spot in Hell's Kitchen dishes out classic Thai fare with a few curveballs like a saute of shrimp and Granny Smith apples.

Great takeout. I haven't had a sit-down here meal before, but I've ordered takeout a few times and the food is great, and the service is very friendly. It's quite small inside, and the atmosphere (while not awful) is not anything outstanding...

Reasonable Yummy Thai. The food is very good here for its price. This is one of my favorite places to dine at when I want something that feels like it was home cooked. The interior is small, which makes space limited. I wouldn't recommend this for large group dining, however, it makes for a good date establishment. The staff is extremely friendly although sometimes not attentive.

Homestyle Thai for the Impecunious!. I grew up on my mother's fantastic Thai food, and have never found a restaurant that imitates her culinary flair better. Fantastic prices, cozy atmosphere, extensive vegetarian menu, and real homestyle Thai food. Sawadi!

Good Food. I order takeout from this place alot and the food is good. Key is NEVER to request that anything be "spicy" - they will dump a big pile of crushed red pepper on it, making it inedible even for my iron stomach. Better to add spice yourself. They used to seal the food poorly so that it spilled on the way here, but they seem to have fixed that.
