“will although give them this, they do have a beautiful atmosphere.”
“The hostess was also extremely helpful and delightful to talk to.”
Good restaurant for a first date - or ifif you are a couple.. I went there last week with my parents, sister, boyfriend and brother in law. Most members of my family didn't want to drink alcohol. So we didn't order any wine. The staff is very professional and organized. I can't say that they were mean or anything, just pretty upscale. Of course, one would expect that in the Jumeirah House. My parents were actually delighted with the service. The restaurant is rather small. I was expecting that it would be located on the 20+ floor. However, it's on the 1st floor. I found that interesting. You can't see much of the park - unless you get a table (for two) right next to the window. The portions are rather small - like you'd expect them to be in a French restaurant - not in a "New American" one. However, the food was delicious. We got complementary dessert. I'd have to say that I enjoyed the overall experience. I'd recommend this place for a chic romantic date.
Hotel restaurant with Central Park views and lavish decor..
In Short
Located inside the Essex House hotel, this expansive restaurant features big, well-spaced tables, bounteous floral arrangements, abundant brass fittings and giant oil paintings. On one side of the room, a waterfall gurgles away happily, and Central Park is visible through the windows. Brunch is a buffet-style affair, with a cornucopia of food spread out across the room, including a dessert table.
Overpriced!. Stuffy is not the word for this place! Went here for my 31st birthday on my first trip to NY. I was extremely disappointed. Uptight servers and bad table when we had booked in advance. Our table was right beside the waiters clean up area. The food was only so so. I had a much better meal at Etoile the night before! I will although give them this, they do have a beautiful atmosphere. The hostess was also extremely helpful and delightful to talk to.
Stuffy. Real stuffy and overpriced. No "Botanica" at Botanica! (I thought that there would be plants). The food also came cold and they they charge $13 for drinks.
