I was very pleased to find this cool little French bistro so close to Carnegie Hall, yet far enough away from the theaters that it isn't packed with pre-theater tourists. It's a romantic place with subdued lighting, tin ceilings, wood panelling and an authentic Gallic atmosphere. There are early 20th century French posters and photgraphs on the walls adding to the charm. The live vintage, pre-1940 jazz is a nice touch; I wouldn't be surprised to see the ghost of Django Reinhardt sitting at the bar! On the days or at the times that there is no band, there is good French music unobtrusively playing on the sound system. There is a long bar at the 56th street side which is great for a rendezvous, to meet friends, or just to listen to the live jazz. We have been here a number of times and found the service to be very attentive and prompt. We have only had delicious meals at Seppi's. The Coq du vin was wonderful; my wife still talks about it. The mustard sauce on the chicken breast was so good we wished we could take home a jar. The steak au poivre was done to a turn, the quality of the meat very good indeed. The bread is a baguette sliced into pieces, and is crusty and delicious. The soups and salads are all excellent, as are the desserts. They have a good wine list, and the selections are reasonably priced. They sell wine by the glass as well. Seppi's is priced very fairly for a midtown French restaurant, especially in the Carnegie Hall area. Close to Central Park, Columbus Circle, Carnegie Hall, and many theaters. I rated Seppi's 5 stars, comparing it to similar restaurants in this part of NYC. My wife and I have spent much time in France, and Seppi's is very much like one of the little out-of-the-way, Gauloise-smoke stained joints we would find so inviting after a late night out. This is a great place to take someone special for a romantic evening. I highly recommend this charming French bistro!

It was my first time at Seppis and I can't wait to come back. The service was great! I had not one but two servers looking over me for anything I needed. Baby Chicken stuffed with mushrooms and potato gratin were great and the apple tart was perfect. Our party of six was well taken care of and everyone had great food. The steak Au Poirve with fries was the best I have ever tried and my friend almost wouldn't let me try it. All around great place.

The most UN-caring service in New York, bar none. Over one hour to get appetizers, waiter couldn't have cared less. Another waiter got them for us then forgot about us. After one hour, 20 minutes promise by "manager" to "go downstairs and check on our order." Someone else got our dinner as we never did. The bread was good, though. That was dinner.
