“Went there on my birthday and had a nice romantic dinner with my girlfriend in a secluded area near the window.”
“On an early Saturday evening, after an 11-block "stroll" on our first trip to NYC, we discovered Topaz - a charming little Thai restaurant 3 steps down, 2-tables-for-4-and-1-table-for-2 wide, about thrice as long with a bar at the back.”
“So, don't come here if you are expecting 4-star service, and just enjoy it for what it is: great authentic Thai food.”
“Their menu is actually pretty extensive, and they also have monthly specials, but I usually stick to my favorite dishes.”
“It's a little crowded in there so it's probably best to get there early or make reservations, but overall, I would highly recommend this place.”
“But I will go back and recommend this place to friends and co-workers.”
“Small restaurant but great atmosphere and the service is outstanding.”
“This is one of the best values I've found in NYC.”

Ignored Reservation. Never go there again! We had a reservation for 3 which they completely ignored. Even though we were all there on time, they would not seat us at a proper table. Turned out, they didn't like that we were only 3 for dinner. THEY would have preferred 4. There are too many choices to put up with this.
Excellent food, Tiny place.. Been there several times. Becomes very crowded at times. Once you get a seat, the food appears fast and tastes awesome. Very tight space. Service is not that great but the food compensates for it. Reasonably priced.
The food is great, it pays off for the bad service.
My friend and I shared the House Fried Rice (mix), and the Dancing Chicken, which by the way was the best I've had in a while, with brown rice (could be a little more on the well done side). Everything was delicious!!!
I could taste all the different spices used on both dishes, even though it was not in excess, and they were also very distinct.
The service however, wasn't the best. They were not busy and yet, I had to wait several minutes for the waiter to refill my glass of water, and they disapeared when we were ready to pay the check, any dishonest person could have walked out without paying.
But I will go back and recommend this place to friends and co-workers.
Nicest service and atmosphere for a nice Thai Experience. Came here first time taking a chance on a new Thai restaurant and was more than pleased. Small restaurant but great atmosphere and the service is outstanding. The Pad Thai was excellent as well as the Love of the Golden Nest (?). Went there on my birthday and had a nice romantic dinner with my girlfriend in a secluded area near the window. Prices are inexpensive and the food is delicious! Good for romantic dinner, out with friends or family.
great choice for Thai food. This place is ideal for a budget Thai lunch. This is a tiny low-scale place hidden in midtown. At lunch time the place is busy, you have to wait ca 5-10 minutes to get seated. If a place is busy in NYC, that's a good sign usually. Same here. Once you made your order, the food comes fast. Sometimes the waiters seem a bit disorganized tho. As the place is tiny you sit very close to others, which might be disturbing for a private conversation. I usually order masmaan curry with chicken. This is a must have for me if I'm there. So far all of their food was very tasty what I have just tried. Never had a bad experience on the quality and taste of the food. So far the best Thai restaurant I have tried. The place is cheap, 2 can have a complete lunch included everything for no more than 30-40 bucks.
Midtown No-Frill Great Thai. A small, sub-street level thai gem! Often busy around lunch (reduced prices) and for good reason. Great Thai dishes, nothing disappoints.
Avoid all time ..inhygenic kitchen.

I work a block away from this place.
Me and my coworkers ordered in food at our office and found an insect in it (the ones that we often see in gutters). Cityreach will not accept the actual name in the review.
We threw all the food away. The restaurant when confornted said that They didn't do it on purpose. These things happen. and they are sorry. Here's your refund
Don't Miss This Hidden NYC Gem!.
On an early Saturday evening, after an 11-block "stroll" on our first trip to NYC, we discovered Topaz - a charming little Thai restaurant 3 steps down, 2-tables-for-4-and-1-table-for-2 wide, about thrice as long with a bar at the back. We were tired and hungry, and blessed to be seated immediately in this W. 56th St. establishment that was getting busier by the minute. Within 3 minutes we had cold water, rice crisps and a delectable peanut sauce for dipping. Not being a spicy food enthusiast, I asked the waiter for help and he was most accommodating - describing several dishes to us. My husband ordered the spare ribs (no imagination!) and I ordered the $15.95 Tamarind Duck on the recommendation of the waiter. Well, the ribs were good, but hubby ate a third of my duck because it was THE MOST DELICIOUS ENTREE WE HAVE HAD IN AGES - pieces of tender, lean, rich dark meat covered with a thin layer of very crispy skin, no visible fat anywhere, served over a bed of wonderful oriental vegetables including shiitake mushrooms and pineapple chunks. I had a side of sticky rice (interesting & good) and hubby had the plain white rice. And let us not forget the Mango Salad ($6.50)- thin slices of mango, cashews, lettuce, etc. in a delightful light dressing - soooooo good! (The papaya salad was my first choice, but waiter advised it is quite spicy.)
Service timing was not fast, but not unreasonable. Water refills were timely and waiter was very pleasant. Next time you are in New York, don't miss this little gem of a restaurant. The food is incredible! The price is reasonable to moderate - depending on what you order. We have eaten all over the world, but we can't wait to go back to Topaz!

RUINED MY DAY.
I needed to order lunch for my office and Topaz looked like a great Thai option. I called and asked about placing a delivery order for noon the next day and was told that I would need to call back later. When I called back they quoted me a price, but said that I would need to confirm it with them later in the day. When I called back this time they said that they decided they would not deliver the food and that they even if they could it would not be until an hour later than I had orignially asked for!
This left me needing to find another restaurant at the last minute which was very unforturnate! They were also rude and unhelpful on the phone. Do not support this restaurant!
