The drinks aren't weak. The bar maids are attentive and very friendly. There are plenty of TVs if you want to catch a game. Being that I love and appreciate art, I can't enough of the caricatures of the famous people hanging on all the walls. It's perfect for Happy Hours because it has extra room in the back. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a fun place to go to grab a couple of drinks after work.
My favorite midtown establishment!.
Very comfortable atmosphere. One of the most attractive looking places I've ever seen, along with the many caricatures of celebrities painted by artist Dan Springer which hang on the many walls throughout the place. (thus, the name "Faces & Names").
Bartenders, Waitresses and Hostesses are very likable, witty and attentive (and gorgeous) :).
Very fair prices. Generally cheaper than any other place in midtown Manhattan.
Highly recommended!
Good Times!. This was a meeting point for a group of us before heading out to dinner on a Friday night. We met up around 6ish for drinks and the crowd was just right. It was kind of hectic in the front bar but we made our way to the back lounge. What a gem! Even though all the sections were reserved for large groups, our waitress was kind enough to let us know a smaller group was going to be heading out soon so we could snag their section! We stayed longer than anticipated but we couldn't help ourselves with those delicious grey goose pear martinis! We weren't impressed with our restaurant of choice so after dinner we came back and stayed until around 3. Since we got the munchies late in the night we tried the mini burgers and chicken quesadilla, ridiculously good! I am definitely venturing back during the week for happy hour!
Outstanding Lunch in Midtown. We stopped in for lunch during the week, and what a great surprise. Not too crowded, prompt service and the food exceeded our expectations AND was reasonably priced! I know this is a popular after work spot, but don't pass it by if you want a really excellent lunch. The club chicken sandwich was excellent, the best I've had for lunch.
Where everybody knows your name.
wont impress your date, but location is great!
stumbling distance from the Hilton....warm & friendly. Close enough to RAYs to grab a slice at 1:30am, and head back to the bar.
smoking hot bartender. great service and delightful conversation! If you get the chance to visit faces and names during the day it will be the best day of your life! Shirley is the best bartender in NYC
Very Cool. I was in here yesterday for lunch with the office staff and it was very nice. The atmosphere is very cool. Our waitress was fun and animated and the food was excellent. I would go back anytime!
Dark, noisy, but relaxed and friendly.
It's dark, especially in the back. I suggest they print their menus in braille. It would help. We had to steal an extra candle from another table to have enough light to order. It's loud. The music is loud, and the sports fans gathered around the wall TVs bellow at fumbles or punts or whatever it is that guys with thick necks bellow at. That said, the place is really good. There are all kinds of nooks and crannies to hide in. Though it's crowded, it's not crushed. The buffalo wings have enough kick to them to send most food-wimp New Yorkers to the water (or beer) glass. For me, they were perfect. The waitstaff is friendly, and efficient, checking back to make sure your table is cleared, and your refill order taken. Linda, the manager, even came over and sat down with us for a chat. There's a nice relaxed atmosphere to the place, and
despite the bellows, you don't get the overwhelming stench of testosterone you get in other "sports bars" (see PS 450 above). We'll be back! --Drink Club NYC is a roving group of NY drinkers
Convenient Location; Disappointing Service. Almost 15 members of Meetup[dot]com's Cinephiles group and I gathered together on Thursday, August 14th at 7:45 PM.for drinks and snacks at this bar/restaurant/lounge. It has, historically, been one of our favorite destinations after viewing a film at the nearby Ziegfeld Theatre. The attractive, poised and professional hostess greeted me politely and with a smile. Although my reservation was well-documented, the space that had been promised to my group was not available to us. As a result, I had to work under pressure with the hostess to find an alternative. She apologized for this situation and strove to resolve it, but also failed to fully take ownership of it. She blamed it on other members of the venue?s staff and my group?s decision to visit on a busy Thursday night. Ultimately, we were seated in a somewhat cramped space in the back corner of the lounge area. Our waitress was competent, but impersonal. This was regrettable, because drinks at this venue were not inexpensive. Given its convenient location and my group's past experiences, we'll return to Faces and Names once more. I expect its service to improve, and hope to award it a higher rating.
Good location. Attended one of those after work deals here. My friend goes here a lot though. Drinks were decent enough but pricey for what you get. Nice athmosphere at the after work time. I will try it out again soon.
