Great Location. This was my third trip to NYC, but first stay at the Blakely. I usually stay in the heart of Times Square. I liked this location better. Easy walking distance to Fifth Avenue shopping, Central Park, Radio City, Rockefeller Center, Carnegie Hall, Times Square and Broadway theatres. The only time we had to take the subway was to go to lower Manhattan. (Macy's and points south). We were pleasantly surprised to find that continental breakfast was included at the adjoining restaurant. That is unheard of in Manhattan. I looked at the restaurants menu and it was a $15 value, per person. They have free in room wi-fi internet access, but if you don't have a laptop they provide free use of a computer and printer in their lobby, which we used to print our boarding passes for our return home. Every room has a safe, iron, hair dryer, coffeepot with complimentary coffee, microwave and refrigerator. Sheets were crisp, clean and pressed. Marble and granite in the bathroom. I would have liked a light blanket. The only covers were the sheets and a much too heavy comforter. The doormen were very courteous and helpful in handling our bags, including holding them after check-out until time for us to depart for the airport and they called to arrange a car to pick us up.
Great inexpensive hotel near times square!!!. GREAT hotel!! Stayed at the Blakely during my first visit to NYC!! Great rooms, and it is in walking distance to times square. Great location. The service was great and they have a nice bar and restaurant in the hotel, kinda pricey. The rooms are reasonably priced for NYC. I plan to go back this summer. Nice place! I had a discount rate, so the price was around $250.00
good choice. I avoided staying at the Hilton where I had a meeting for 4 days so chose the Blakely which is literally aroung the corner. Pleasant, clean suite with king bed, living room area and a small alcove with fridge, microwave, and sink. All conservatively detailed but with two plasma screens. Small lobby with attached upscale Italian restaurant. Only complaint was the young, inexperienced doormen. Not cheap but you would pay at least $200 a night more at most hotels for similar acommodations.
Traditional decor meets modern comfort at this English-style midtown hotel..
In Short
The lobby of this renovated four-star deluxe hotel (formerly the Gorham) looks like a quaint library, but the in-room amenities exude modernity. Think 38-channel flat-screen TVs, DVD players and complimentary wireless Internet, plus marble bathrooms with Penhaligon toiletries. Living space is generous by Manhattan standards, ranging from about 310 square feet (deluxe room) to 525 square feet (deluxe suite). The penthouse boardroom even features a terrace for outdoor meetings.
