The Scene
Admittedly the lobby can feel cramped. After all, it is usually filled wall-to-wall with guests at any hour of the day--flight crews, conventioneers and sightseers. The casual Cafe New York serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. There's also a lounge bar.
The Details
This 1928 original underwent a $60-million renovation that reduced the number of rooms from 1,270 to 935. Bathrooms got bigger and amenities more numerous. Accommodations keep you comfortable with dual-line speaker phones with data ports, safes, iron/ironing boards and hair dryers. The step-above Executive Club offers such extra features as desks with ergonomically designed chairs, Wi-Fi, minibars, coffee makers, bathrobes, bathroom phones and USA Today. Stays in these upgraded rooms also include access to a lounge where complimentary breakfast is available.

Great location and value. Times Square, 5th Ave. and Moma are close by. Room was comfortable and clean. Would recommend to anyone and will go back.
Pros: Very clean and comfortable
Cons: water pressure not as high as I am use to.

Stayed at Park Central from 11-17 to 11-24. What a great location! Close to Central Park and Times Square. Also, the Macy's parade travels along Broadway which is just the next street over. We had a great location to watch the parade and it was close to our hotel so we didn't have to get up early and "reserve" a spot. Park Central was reasonably priced and the room was large for a NY hotel. We did not encounter any real problems. It's true that the elevators do run slow, but it's not that bad and there is a sign letting you know and apologizing. The only things I can think of that were minor issues were the shower "shrieked" for about 40 seconds when turned on before finally stopping so you could shower in peace, we would get a different variety of towels from day to day (sometimes no washclothes, sometimes no large towels but that was taken care of when housekeeping was called) and the drinks in the bar were pricey. Other than that we found our stay at Park Central pleasant and would stay there again.
Pros: Great location!! Rooms larger than where we stayed before.
Cons: Nothing major
