Francophile meets bibliophile at this well-stocked store..
The Scene
Right in Rockefeller Center, this petite three-level store is indispensable for homesick Gauls or anyone who just happens to love all things French. Expats can rent a French video or pick up a copy of Le Figaro. Even poseurs
who just come for the adorable Tintin graphics shouldn't feel daunted--the helpful staff speaks English, too.
The Goods
On the street level you'll find postcards and memorabilia like the irresistible Petit Prince lunchboxes. Upstairs are children's books, and below is an extensive selection of French and Spanish literature, plus all the language reference books anyone could ever need: dictionaries for Catalan, Creole and Bengali, among others. As you browse shelves of Zola and Flaubert, it's worth noting that when it comes to book cover design, the French have every reason to sneer at us.
