“This place had my favorite dress, which is why I bought it there, but the staff was not as good as at other places.”
“The dresses are also completely overpriced - you are paying for the name not the fabric or the craftsmanship.”
This place is a total scam. To make the
long story short I bought a dress here which took them 3 months to make (rush) and when it arrived they charged me another $2000 in alterations, which is ridiculous considering its a made to order dress, it is not something you try on in the store and then buy off the rack. You wear a sample and wait 4 months for someone to make it from scratch and arrive here. If there is anything about my wedding I totally regret it is buying this dress. I should have realized that they are scam artists when they gave me a contract, the size of a real estate transaction.
Furthermore, they got a huge deposit from me (50%) so by the time I realized what the damage and because of what it was too late.
Take your time.
1. This is my first daughter getting married so we were very new to the process.
2. Against my better judgement, she chose a gown from the 2010 collection - We realized too late that you have to wait for the trunk shows to see the new gowns - this is very important. When you realize that your wedding is far in advance, the newer dresses may appeal to you and be more fashion forward. DO NOT RUSH!!! It's a very expensive purchase!
3. The subtle pressure of 10% off only until Sunday made her call and order the dress. Vera Wang charged her credit card before we'd even signed the contract.
4. My daughter did sign the contract BUT the dress HAD NOT EVEN BEEN started. She went for that first fitting and called them on the way home to say she'd changed her mind. Too late - $4800 gone - there is no stipulation in their contract at all to cancel - it was a very expensive mistake -
5. She wound up purchasing Monique Lhuillier's waltz dress at Saks - You have 3 days to cancel there if the drress has not been started.
6. So no matter what - before you give them your credit card- make darn sure it is the dress of your dreams. DON't RUSH - and do the trunk shows then go home and THINK ABOUT IT. Saks is fabulous - NO PRESSURE WHATSOEVER - and they'll get you any dress you want. ALWAYS 10% off because you open a charge and LOTS of other perks - facials, makeovers, 10% on any purchases for the bridal party, tuxes for dad or the groom, etc. Saks is old world grace and service and they've been in business forever. Their sales people are wonderful.
Amazing gowns and experience.
I recently got engaged a few months back :) and of course the first designer i thought of was MS VERA WANG!!! Her designs are impeciable and gorg. I had to be put on a waitlist for saturday, as that was expected. When i arrived at the salon i was greeted warmly and my consultant was very warm to me and my family. The manger and her staff are brilliant and very friendly. They creat a stress free environment and do not rush you in the appt or to purchase. After shopping here then going else where, Vera was hands down best in service and in her gowns.
If money is NO object....
Beautiful dresses, white glove service, but only if you wait your turn. Showing up on time for your appointment is not half the battle - it depends when the other brides are done. On this count, it's personal, catered service once its your turn. Couture gowns galore. But if your budget is below $10k, choices are rather limited and a bit disappointing. However, every bride should try on a Vera Wang gown - they are magical.
Staff also follows up nicely - thank you card and other mail correspondance.
A good experience, but not amazing. I ordered my wedding gown at the flagship store after visiting some other bridal salons in the city. This place had my favorite dress, which is why I bought it there, but the staff was not as good as at other places. I had to do a lot of follow-up myself and they never called to let me know when the dress was finally in, but overall I was thrilled with the end result. I loved my dress, it was altered perfectly by their seamstress, who was really delightful to work with at my fittings. It would have been nice if they did something special at the final fitting. My dad came with me and said he'd hoped they'd take picture of give me some champagne. But since getting a beautiful dress was what I wanted, and that's what I got, I was happy with my experience.
Awful service for what should be a happy day. This is the most deisapointing sales experience ever, and i was actaully buying a wedding dress. In short, no one followed up when my sales assistant quit, my phone calls were not returned even though I was specifically from abroad to buy the dress, I was not allowed to see the dress until I paid the full balance (needless to say a 40% deposit was already taken although I never received the bill), and the best thing: my dress was the WRONG SIZE, had grey STAINS, and war POORLY made. This is all after paying a few thousand dollars for it. I should have listened to all the horror strories! NEVER GO TO THE STORE IF ZYOU WOULD LIKE TO BE MILDLY HAPPY!
TERRIBLE OVERALL EXPERIENCE.
I have to say I was fooled in the beginning. I went to the Vera Wang store and fell in love with a dress. To make a long story shorter, 3 weeks ago I went in to try on the dress and it was COMPLETELY different from the dress that I ordered. They were unapologetic and actually made me feel like I was crazy for not liking the "new" dress, which was completely different. They agreed to let me wear the sample dress but said I would still have to pay the thousands of dollars for the dress that they made me--even though it's not what I ordered. I ended up having to call corporate headquarters in nyc, which still hasn't completely helped the situation. As of now, they are making me a new dress, but have been very elusive about when it will be ready. Bottom line is, my wedding is in 6 days and I don't have a dress.
More than anything-- it hurt that the original sales person we dealt with and had liked actually LIED and said that the only reason I wasn't happy with the dress was because I had changed my mind about the color. She never even bothered to call me to see what was going on-- she just lied.
DO NOT GO TO VERA WANG. I have been hearing more and more horror stories-- things I would have never believed had this experience not happened to me.
HORRIBLE- Just buying the name. I have to say that I was EXTREMELY disapointed with this company. Not only was my dress very late getting delivered, the dress didn't fit me AT ALL. I sent very specific measurements to this store, of which have not changed since I sent them in, and the dress cost me over $160 in alteration fees. This is unacceptable considering how overpriced these dresses are to start. Luckily have a wonderful seamstress who came to the rescue- but she was also disgusted at the quality of my dress. I am so thankful that I went with Amsale for my own wedding. I will NEVER buy another Vera Wang dress again, and I will recommend the same to all of my friends who have yet to "tie the knot". Obviously you are strictly buying the name "Vera Wang" when you get a dress from here, not quality.
Stay away if you can. I was highly disappointed by my Vera Wang experience. My sister purchased a "custom" dress (read high end as NONE of the dresses are really custom) and I purchased a ready to wear gown. Between us we spent what I think anyone would consider a lot of money. I was never offered even a glass of water on any of my numerous visits and neither my sister nor I could get the sales woman (who made a serious commission off of us) to return our calls. I guess they assume people will not be repeat customers so do not bother with service once you have signed the bill. Of course there were some exceptions and some of the woman are nice and helpful, but generally we were shocked at the poor level of service. The dresses are also completely overpriced - you are paying for the name not the fabric or the craftsmanship. While we are both happy with our dresses the whole experience has been quite unpleasant, which is a real shame and unacceptable given the prices. Try Reem Acra or Carolina Herrara instead!
a nightmare. my vera wang experience was a total joke. the saleslady was mean, bossy condescending, full of herself and totally uninterested in what I wanted. apparantly, she worked with VERA back in the day, and was a very important person. My mother and I were shocked. Furthermore, I think Vera Wang's dresses aren't that great. the salespeople give you a whole spiel about how elite the workmanship is, and maybe that's so, but the dresses aren't flattering. The other bride there at the same time I was was totally overwhelmed by a too-much dress. Those saleswomen don't care what flatters you, it seems. You should be honored to wear their dress! The best was that while we were there, a cockroach ran over the floor and the poor other bride started screaming!
