Luxurious but always wearable Italian clothing..
The Scene
Bright track lighting, chrome accents and mirrors galore decorate this tri-level space in the heart of Madison Avenue. Staffers are upbeat, chatty and congenial--ready to help and very approachable. Nooks and columns make this store feel more cozy than others along the same route. As for the clientele, let's just say that Krizia was named after Plato's fictional Crizia--a man who spends his fortune on buying expensive gifts for beautiful and vain women.
The Goods
Founded in 1957 by fashion plate Mariucci Pinto Mandelli, the house of Krizia has always been known for serving up unexpected and ironic fashion treats that are steeped in elegance and contradictions--like chunky knits mixed with floaty silk chiffon. The clothes cater mostly to the older, well established woman, but sexy, more youthful styles abound as well. This boutique houses the Krizia main collection and the top collection--look elsewhere for the label's more sporty offerings. Also find select men's styles.
