Very cozy hangout, decent food--beware of over-ordering!. Went here recently with 3 other people, the night of the blizzard of all nights. We got there a little after 7pm so it was pretty empty, esp given the weather (though I think there was a party in the back). While we were waiting for one of our party we had a drink at the bar & chit-chatted with the bartender, who was very nice. Once we all got seated in the dining area, the waitress (who was nice & attentive) told us that most people order about 3-4 things from the menu & share--so we did. Um, big mistake, because it was WAY too much food. The sliders & spring rolls were very good, the spinach-artichoke dip, quesadillas, popcorn shrimp & calamari pretty good but not amazing, the walnut encrusted goat cheese salad & sesame tuna skewers just ok, & the beef kabob skewers so chewy that I stopped trying to eat them after almost choking on a piece. The crab cakes & eggplant fritters I didn't have room to even try but I hear they were good. Also we got a pitcher of sangria that smelled funny to me, definitely had much better elsewhere. With everything we ordered the bill added up to much more than we expected it to be (though it was still less than $50 per person). The best thing about the place was the cozy, chill atmosphere, and the very comfortable couches (almost fell asleep!). It was great lounging around and watching the snow come down through the window--our own little insulated world. What a shock when we went outside & saw how bad it was! I would go back, but definitely order a lot less, and also would go later as we didn't get to see the band play--Hot Mess was playing that night but didn't want to stay too late in that weather, even then it was still a nightmare getting home.

Best Place for a party!. Have you had the Trio burgers at this place? They have to be the best in the city. I recently had a party there in the front lounge and probably ate 12 of them myself. Dinning room staff rocked. I asked the manager if he could send out more for our party and he kindly obliged at no additional cost. The staff at this bar is so helpful that when I forgot my bag at the end of the night and called to retrieve, they sent an employee over to my apartment with it and attached a thank you note for hosting my party there. Talk about service....I would give this establishment 3 thumbs up (if I had an extra thumb)!!!

the full package. A resident of the Upper east Side for 10 years , I have known Session 73 since the beginning . They were my courteous neighbour when I lived on 73rd , way before I became a customer.

Frequenting the spot on a regular basis for the past few years , I feel it offers something different and much needed Upper East Side : live music at least 5 nights a week ( from Tango to Salsa to acoustic guitar, to rock, ), great bites to share ( I love the chicken trio !! ) a great cafe in the summer , a warm and inviting dining room conducive to conversation, a fun effective and welcoming staff ( courteous security staff, fun and attractive bartenders, amazing wait staff ) a large space where you can gather lots of friends ...

It should also be said that when in need of putting together a fundraiser , management right away jumped on the occasion and showed that they truly care and know how to give back to their community...

I am a fan , and feel that Session 73 is an option everynight of the week !! meet with a friend to catch up around a good glass of wine , get together a larger group to celebrate a birthday on the end of a work day , need to hear some great music ... Just give it a try you will not be disappointed ... I know I am not and have converted fellow Upper eastsider as well as friends from the 5 boroughs ...

Perfect place to Hang out and have a good time!!!!!!!!!. No matter the time of the week or the time of the year, Session 73 is one of the best place to hang out Upper East Side. Have a drink at the bar or hang out outside, the staff is always nice and efficient.

The food is great and fresh...among my favorite the sliders, the "Fries from France", and the spinach and artichoke dip...

There is always something going on during the week, from salsa to rock, to acoustic guitar...

Being a salsa lover, my favorite time of the week to go is Monday night...Always great live music, great salsa teachers, and amazing dancers... You will have a great time guaranteed...

An Awesome Place!. I think this bar is the best. I go every Friday with some of my friends and we always have a great time. The food is excellent - we've had everything on the menu and have never once been disappointed. All the staff are friendly, efficient and lots of fun and the live bands they have every Thurs/Fri/Sat are always excellent. The drinks are always strong and the manager has a great cocktail called The Vacation - you should definitely check it out! I go out a lot in New York and I don't give complements often but this places deserves it - I've been going for 5years and I will continue to go and have massive amounts of fun.

Gypies tramps and roofies.. This pseudo trendy upper east side dump is filled with post collegiate trash. We went here for New Years and was hounded by gypsies. Believe it or not, they tried reading our palms and asking for money. Not to mention the first time I drank someones drink by accident and it turned out to have a roofie in it. After waking up sick the next day at 5 PM I realized I am never going there again. After New Years mess I'll really never go again. Don't go here.

Do not Host a Party unless you do a drink special. I had my birthday party there, and could not get a drink special. The manager tried to offer us the open bar option and tables, but the problem was we would have to order the drinks from the waitress. This bar does not get crowded until at least 11 - 12. So having 25 people sit at tables and ordering open bar through 1 or 2 waitresses when the bar top was EMPTY did not make sense to me. They just wanted to slow down the drink flow, to save them money...I guess.

So I opted out of that and choose to just have the tables and we all agreed to pay by the drink. I had to leave my credit card, which was fine... There were about 25 people and everyone was paying cash. Unfortunatly we had a dumb waitress, who would get flustered and not know what to do when she needed to make change for more than one person at a time. Of course I didn't think anything of it at the time...I was just haveing a good time with my friends. So at the end of the night, the waitress hands me my credit card....with over a $500 Tab. I know my friends were paying the whole night, so there is NO WAY that the bill was $500, I just think she was an idiot...and Ordered the drinks in the computer through my credit card, and did not remove them when people paid.

This bar is fun for a night out...but definitly not a place to have a party, unless you do the drink special....when they allow you to get the drinks from the bar. Good Luck. The manager was also not helpful at all. Happy Birthday to Me and my $500 credit card bill. Oh and ps....there was a 20% gratuity tip added to the charge. So make sure you do not Double tip, they don't deserve it!
