Seriously Rocking Place

by Jackass

Did I mention a huge beer selection? I was reading the last review and it says small selection. OK, 30 taps of craft beer, a hand drawn cask conditioned offering, and 100 plus bottles and this is a small selection? OK, enough of that.

I've been twice. The bartender, Fran, when I was there the first time knew her stuff and definitely could recommend good beers. Also, the atmosphere, with local folks and professors from Cornell and Rockefeller University hanging out was definitely different, but definitely cool and intellectual, without being at all pretentious.

Food here is solid. I had baby back ribs twice, and they are among the best I have had anywhere. If you are lucky enough to live on the upper east side, make this your 2nd home.

  • Pros: Great Food, Great Music, Great service

cask not always on

by britbeer

I have been serveral times in the hope of trying one of their cask ales. Sadly, on each occasion, no cask. THis is a shame. Overall, the bar is a typical NY bar - open plan with the usual food selections.

It is okay, but there is nothing to make one travel to go there ,if you are in the area, do give it a try.

  • Pros: they claim to sell cask ale
  • Cons: never had it on when I have been.

Never Again

by koma1380

Well we started the night off with the idea of having a couple beers and some burgers at DC's. Since when we walked by they had a sign advertising a 4th of July party with $3 beers. So we go in and seat our selfs and order two beers, some patato skins and two burgers. We get our beers and then are told from a confuzed waitress that she realized that she can't give us the "happy hour" drink prices if we are not sitting at the bar. No mind you there was no room to is at the bar because of the world cup quater finals. Since we already have our drinks there is no choice, so we are forced to pay full price. Then our burgers had the smallest serving of fries I have seen. Yet, no patato skins. So we just start eating, now mind you we are also being ignored by this waitress. Half way through eating the server notices finaly that we don't have the patato skinds and goes to find out what happened.

She comes to tell us that they did make them. Although they were so burnt and small that they cant serve them to us. She asked if you wanted anything else instead. We desided to get some nachos instead. Well after alot more of being ignored. I even at one point had my credit card out in plain sight on the table and she just walked right past us.

It was so bad my date had to walk home, across the street were we live mind you. To rest people we were forced to wait there for so long. Once I did get a bill after half a hour of waiting for it. I noticed that I was charged $11.99 for the plate of nachos. That we only ordered because she was offering nice they ruined our order. I expected it to be comped or at least half off. No full price, when the patato skinks I wanted was $5.99. Now the $12 plate of nachoes was the most pathetic serving I have ever saw. It was so small I was hoping it was free, because that was all it was worth.

This is just one horrible experience after another.

  • Pros: Great Overpriced Beer Selection
  • Cons: Wait Staff Has No Clue, Horible Food, Happy Hours That Are No Real
