“Fresh food, wonderful atmosphere.”
“recommend the the Lobser on top of the bow tie pasta with a light tomato cream sauce.”
“The wine list is small but impressive, and they have both expensive and value-priced wines.”
“It's a bridge and tunnel crowd and feels like being in a Sopranos episode (but without the good food).”
“There are lots of specials aswell as an extensive menu, our waiter was charming and very helpful.”
“This is a great place to people watch, but, that's about it.”
“The service was so terrible that I would never go back.”
“Not only was the service sub-standard, but the food was horrible.”
“The menu is pricey but well worth it!”
“The restauran was icey cold and when we asked the management to lower the air conditioning, the place turned horribly stuffy within a minute.”
Great Food/OK Service/Pricey Menu.
The food was delicious however we felt rushed so they could accomodate a larger party. We didn't even get a chance to finish our coffee. They did offer to buy us a drink at the bar but really all my husband and I wanted was to sit, relax and enjoy dinner without feeling like our bill was not big enough in order to dine at our own pace.
Not woth the money.
Overpirced.
A local Italian restaurant with overpriced menu and mediocre food.
The place tries to act classy but fails miserably. It's a bridge and tunnel crowd and feels like being in a Sopranos episode (but without the good food).
The restauran was icey cold and when we asked the management to lower the air conditioning, the place turned horribly stuffy within a minute.
These people really need to invest in a decent ventilation system. Or how about opening some windows when the weather is mild!!
Try Petaluma for really good Italian food in a pleasant setting.
Rubbing elbows with NY's finest in Grandma's dining room. I eat at Campagnola once every 6 weeks or so. No matter what night it is, it's always the place to see and be seen. With a very "Old New York" feel, the tables are always filled with Famous athletes, Journalists, Broadcasters, Authors, CEO's and beautifully dressed people with an appreciation for good italian food! The menu is pricey but well worth it! I recommend the the Lobser on top of the bow tie pasta with a light tomato cream sauce. I dream about the dish!!
THE BEST RESTAURANT IN TOWN. We live in Pennsylvania and were in NY for the weekend. Our son recommended Campagnola to us. He said it was his favorite restaurant in NY. We had the best of everything there. The best waiters, best food, best service and hated to leave. We did get to experience Claudio - what a great guy he is, everyone loves him. He spent quite a bit of time talking to us and we watched as he conversed with the other customers and everyone had a smile on their face. We will definitely be back and have already started to tell our friends about Campagnola. My husband said that he had the best veal chop ever and that it was better than any steak he ever ate. I had the veal with artichokes in a cream sauce. Our son told us that a "must have" was the nepolian-was he ever right! We have been to Italy several and always rave about the food there and this is right up there with the best. BGW
Best Service in Manhattan. Service was out of this world. When my date when to the bathroom the chef actually sat down at the table with me and kept me company until he came back. The food was wonderful including the stuffed clams and shrimp, and the napolean was to die for . I would definitely come back and strongly recommend.
Excellent experience!. This restaurant was awesome! We had a great meal, great service and a fantastic time overall! The service was incredible, they really had a way to make you feel welcome and appreciated your business! Claudio was our waiter and he made our night. They brought us out a great sample pasta appetizer so we could try several different pastas and sauces. We ordered off the menu for our entrees which were all delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant and I look forward to returning when I visit New York next.
We had a fantastic night at Campagnola's last Sunday night - 19 November 2007!!!!.
We had a fantastic night at Campagnola's last Sunday night - 19 November 2007. We were a party of 8 ladies who had spent all day shopping at Tiffany's and Macy's. We asked a Policeman outside Macy's to recommend a decent Italian for the last night of our stay in NY. He highly recommended Campagnola although it was a long taxi trip but a recommendation was enough for us so we grabbed two cabs and went. When we arrived we were a little concerned that we were slightly underdressed as of course we were dressed 'smart casual' for shopping! However the Manager welcomed us and even helped us in with our numerous shopping bags (and there were a lots!).
The wine was a little pricey to what we had been used to but nonetheless the service we received was impeccable. Claudio and his colleagues were first class - the best service of our whole trip to NY. We only wanted a main meal so the Chef provided our table with some tomato bread - which was gorgeous. For our main meals all 8 of our 'tastes' were catered for - from vegetarian to white meat to anything!
I had the Chicken special of the day; chicken on a bed of spinach with a layer of mozarrella and tomato - it was absolutely delish! I also tried the ravaoli which was gorgeous but the best taste of the evening was the veal with lemon sauce which my friend had - IT WAS GORGEOUS!!!
Despite being a Sunday evening we were not rushed and we continued to drink and chat whilst the restaurant quietened and then waiters joined our conversation talking about NY and where we were from. We learnt lots about living in NY and it was really interesting.
We were in NY for 5 days and this meal was on par with another of our evenings where the food was as excellent but the Campagnola would win best meal experience due to the staff and their fantastic service to us all.
We will definitely go back and i have already recommended Campagnola's to two people visiting NY very soon.
great place!!. We loved this place. We are Italian and usually don't like eating Italian food out because it never compares to homemade. But this place was just like home. Claudio was our waiter and made us feel like family. The food was wonderful!! They start you out with a dish of cheese and olives, fresh wonderful Italian bread. Claudio was very attentive and really went out of his way to please us. Diner was great, desert even better. Fresh food, wonderful atmosphere. You know it's a good place when Italians go to an Italian restaurant!! A must for us whenever we are in New York!. We have recommended it to several friends and no one is ever dissappointed.
Never had a good meal. This restaurant has a great amibiance as well as great service. Unfortunately, the food is always dissapointing. Even the bolognese is dissapointing. Campagnola doesn't compare to Elio's or Scalinatella. Do not order fish at this restaurant, or if you do, be prepared to get a free dessert because your fish will be days old. This is a great place to people watch, but, that's about it.
Manga Manga and so much more. First piece of advice, tell your waiter you want "no menus". Bring us what the chef is cooking. You will not be disappointed. We did this with a party of four and were amazed with the assortment we were able to indulge in. We tried several different pastas and main entrees all to the chef's delight. The service was outstanding and we will come back when in NY. The steak with mushroom and onion on a hot grill & mushroom ravioli & penne w/pesto. I could go on and on...enjoy
