This Upper East Side Turkish restaurant is a hidden gem!!! I made reservation ahead of time because I heard the place was small, but I have always wanted to check it out since I have heard nothing but great things. It lived up to it's reputation...The service was very good and Uskudar's food was even better. Shish kebabs were great and they served the best Hummus I've ever had in NYC. Very affordable and they also deliver, so now I order from Uskudar Turkish Restaurant at least once a week. Overall great restaurant and it's really a pleasure to have such a nice restaurant like this in the neighborhood.
Wonderful food & service, Uskudar Turkish Restaurant is a really nice surprise. The decor could not be more simple but the food is fresh, this Turkish food spot is a little slice of Istanbul -- I had ordered the whole broiled Red Snapper and start with the artichoke, it was amazing. The chef is also the owner and he takes a lot of pride in serving authentic Turkish cuisine made right, I would recommend this place to all.
Uskudar Turkish Restaurant serves amazing Turkish cuisine on the Upper East Side of Manhattan...I live only 1 Avenue away so I frequent this place often for their lunch...Best lunch on the UES...Chef/Owner Ibrahim is a great cook and I'm delighted to have this restaurant in the neighborhood. Highly recommend this place to all!
Best Turkish Restaurant in NYC. I always go Uskudar. Almost 15 years same taste, same quality.Food are great, Inside is very clean like first days of restaurant.I think you should try, my favorite food is kofte.unbeliable.......
Best Humus in town. Great Food and Great Atmosphere what else can you ask for. When you're in the mood for some fried Humus and a great time with your friends try Uskudar.
Sweet Turkish Gem.
The sign that said Appetizers and Wine won the day vs the other competitors on the block. I would up having the lunch special with a first, main, and desert courses. I tried both Turkish Red Wines. They were both dry and flavorful. The bread was warm and crisp and the Coban Salad was very fresh. You could tell the vegetables were fresh and crisp. For my main dish I had a comb Lamb/Chicken Adana. The meat was so tender and tasty I don't think I left even a scrap of meat. For desert the Turkish Coffee (always a favorite) and Kayisi (apricots) were a superb ending to my meal.
I think Uskudar is a great place for going on a date and perfect to start a night out on the Upper East Side.
Avoid. Used to go here often, but moved away. Tried it again and very disappointed; the food was uninspired and not necessarily fresh. We thought it was overpriced for what it was, so on leaving I only left a 10% tip. The waitress stopped me and demanded double the sales tax - this was their "policy". WHat a nerve!
Below average. Food is average, no ambiance, mediocre service. Used to be a good restaurant I'm amazed at its dramatic downturn.
Simple ingredients prepared well, excellent service. Uskudar Turkish Restaurant is a gem in my neighborhood. It has been in the same location for nearly 20 years now, and I'm sure their longevity is due to the regulars who know a good thing and keep going back! Another Turkish restaurant just opened up two blocks away, but Uskudar is better. The ingredients, though simple, are prepared with complex blends of spices. Hot dishes are cooked to perfection. The ambiance is pleasant even in such a tiny space. The excellent, conscientious service was a welcome change from the usual attitude of upper east side waitstaff. I wouldn't want Uskudar to change a thing!
Simple and delicious.
A really nice surprise... The decor could not be more simple and plain but the food is fresh -- Not over-seasoned and the service impecable with no shi-shi..
Ask for the whole broiled Red Snapper and start with the artichoke...
