I'd Recommend It. I'm new in town and needed a quick, inexpensive, and convenient place to eat last night. I went there with a friend and had great food, good drinks, and quick service. No complaints here!
Worst Service...EVER!!!. I am a total Spice fanatic, I frequent the location on University Place and just love the food and their great lunch specials. I went to Spice last night with 3 other friends and just had an awful experience. Although the food was still good, the service was so incredibly slow and rude I was ready to walk out. They seated us by the door which was freezing but we were ready to have some sangria and make the best of it. After waiting for 20 minutes for water, I ended up just going up to the bar and getting it myself. I highly suggest getting take-out from this location but DO NOT go there if you are looking for a relaxing fun dinner!
Great food, excellent price.. bad service..
We went here after some recommendation. Food was amazing, gets into my top 5 thai restaurants. However, the service beats it. After seating, the waiter showed up to the table within couple of minutes to take the order. We asked couple of minutes and he showed up again. Yet, after ordering we had to ask for water!! Upon arrival of food, we asked for an extra small plate as we were trying few dishes. The plate never arrived neither did we receive any visit from the waiter till the check was to arrive. (No refills for water for their tasty and spicy food).
I guess I will bare it as the restaurant was very busy and in its peak dinner time. The food was amazing and cheap. Avoid peak hours if you look for good service and quick food. I will go again! and again!! Food and Price gets 9.5/10.. service 6/10
Delicious, Affordable, Thai.... I dined here last night with a friend. We sat promptly and the food and service were excellent. The portions are filling for a complete meal($4 for dumplings, $3 for soup, $9 for shrimp/chicken black noodles). The decor and ambience was also enjoyable. Surprise joy on the UES.
Terrible service but great beef basil. The cons are the service in the restaurant is just awful, the delivery service is so slow it takes about an hour and a half, and the portions are tiny. The pros are the food is cheap and they have the best beef basil.
Manager was Awesome!. We accidentally called in an order from the other Spice restaurant and when we came to pick up our food here, we realized the mistake that we made. The manager here was very understandable and he quickly cancelled the order from the other place and re-ordered our food here. We got it in 15 minutes! Great service and yummy affordable food : )
Never even tasted the food. I called after the food did not show an hour after I ordered it and they said it just left and would arrive in 10 minutes. It arrived thirty minutes later and I sent it back because I had already ordered from someplace else. It should not take 30 minutes to go two blocks! We tried to speak with the manager but were instead put on hold until we gave up. They might have good food but I do not even care to try based on the poor service.
Great food, great ambience, excellant price. The food was excellant, the price nice and overall a great place to spend an evening. The service was not the greatest but nothing to complain about.
Worst Service & Manager Ever!. I live 3 blocks from this place... was seated at 8:15, my food didn't show until 9:10! The table next to us was empty, then filled (by 8:30) and they received their drinks & food and were leaving when we got our entree! Then the Manager had the gall to argue with us about their crappy service. #1 rule of service-the customer is always right. Don't go there!
Trendy Thai favored by budget-conscious Upper East Siders..
In Short
This branch of a trendy Thai restaurant group is one of a handful in town offering cheap eats in a sleek setting. Popular with a young and hungry crowd, inexpensive curries come in all colors and heats with a choice of chicken, beef, tofu, shrimp or veggies. Other house specialties include whole grilled fish with tamarind sauce and crispy duck with mushroom and pineapple.
