Better Burger(where). hidden in my favourite bar (American Trash) MTK specialises in seafood BUT do not leave without trying their double cheesburger!! Awesome, especially with Mark's spicy mayo (CIA trained chef n owner. Save money n split the humongous plate of fries. The best burger i ever ate.

Music AND Sports lovers refuge - real conversations, real people, real fun!. "I am a 26-year-old female from NYC (originally, not transplanted) and this is my all-time favorite bar and music venue. They have great original and cover bands from time to time as well as an eclectic crowd you rarely find in NYC anymore. As for keeping up with the Lower East Side dive bars, this bar was around before the LES was considered "cool" and before most of it's young patrons even knew what bars were so the comments made about it being a fake dive bar are ludicrous and only typical of those who chose to compartmentalize and label neighborhoods. It boasts an authentic group of people from all walks of life and neighborhoods - I travel all the way there from Washington Heights, and a bunch of my friends travel from downtown because it is unpretentious (the bartenders rock my world!) and you can start up a conversation about anything with almost anyone - not true of the pseudo-hipster/ self-righteous bars and crowds popping up all over our city. BE YOURSELF, MEET NEW PEOPLE, GO TO AMERICAN TRASH!

How is it being "male heavy" a con???? As a single chick in New York I always appreciate a higher male to female ratio!!!!! Sounds like a pro to me!!!!

Best bar on the upper east side. This place rocks. The staff is wild and crazy. The drinks are always cheap and there is a happy hour everyday of the week. It has that old school New York rock and roll feel. And there is live music and never a cover. Great place to come when you want a down town feel while staying up town.

Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors. Local bar features a pool table and a selection of more than 25 beers, including Guinness, Bass, Stella Artois and more.

Noisy, hostile, faux dive w/pricey beer. So this guy walks in to a bar....Ugh! I see Topher waiting in a booth. Great, he's held it for us. Usually, when people see each other, they say hi, or how's it going. Topher says, "I thought you said this place was cheap. Beer is six dollars! And the people... they just hate you!"

Uh oh! I did it again. Found: BAR BIG MISTAKE! The only "deals" were on Bud Lite-- $10 a pitcher. Well, if you can't afford Beer, there's always Bud Lite. I went to the bar to get a pitcher of the stuff. Some guys were arguing about something sportish. I tried to pass one of them to get to the bar.

"Where do you think you're going, buster?" he asked. Things got friendlier from there.

So we sat around, a bit... then THE BAND came on. Yow! I wonder what harmony means in their language. Mike Y shows up and complains. I explain that we're waiting for Ai. He says, he can't put up with the din and the ambience that long. Then he splits. Ai comes, and we all leave. The food was mediocre at best... and that was the best thing. We moved to Bakers Street down 1st Ave. That was much better. --Drink Club is a roving group of NYC drinkers.

SLOP HOLE - THAT NOW SERVES FOOD & WATERED DOWN DRINKS. Buyer Beware!

This place is no place for any civilized decent person. They started serving food in the summer...but they also let people bring in their dogs and roam around the kitchen. The food is disgusting and I am surprised the CITY hasn't shut them down. Besides that....the men there are entirely aggressive and abusive to the point where you may be jeopardizing your own safety as a female. This place lives up to it's name "American Trash" - that's all you will find in this bar - oh yeah.....the NYPD has raided this place on a few occassions so buyer beware!!

Great Bar. I have been to this bar a few times and never had a bad experience. Not as much a dive as the name suggest. The beers where cheap at least for the UES and mixed drinks where strong and cheap. The bartends have always been freindly. It's nice find a local bar with any attitude.
