“As the sky darkened the ambience improved and we enjoyed the lit room and balmy weather.”
“Oh, they went to retrieve the waitress to order the wine.”
“The food overall was very good.”
“the food is good and simple, basic Italian menu and the pizza is delicious.”
“it's a great low key place with nice decor - good for special events or simply a casual dinner.”
“love the staff there Elizabeth & Michael are great, I visit the store & always leave happy that I got the service I deserve, I have asked Elizabeth several times for certain shoes I have desired and she has went out of her way to email me photoes on mor”
“The food is well crafted and for a very decent price.”
“The waiters/waitresses are rude the service is slow and you have to ask for everything you need.”
My favorite. I love Serafina! The food is good - especially the Pizza. The service is good as well - no complaints here. Every time I have friends visit, this is the first place I think of to take them out to eat. It's inexpensive and there is something for everyone.
Great pizza, italian pastas. The whole experience from start to finish made us feel very special and the food was exceptional. The staff were so polite and attentive. Had a truly wonderful evening on Wednesday with some colleagues; food, service and ambience all excellent. cheflaszlo
Terrible and rude service, noisy ambience, OK food.
I have been to this Serafina twice. The first time I just didn't like the place, while at the second time I had to leave because of a very very rude old man who was the host.
The place has really bad acoustics - which amplifies everyone's conversation in the cozy room that it is extremely uncomfortable. The food was OK. But the old man who was the host was so rude that he actually moved our table too close to the next table (to create additional space). When we told him we will leave the restaurant, he was rude enough to take the drinks from our table and escort us. I was told he was the manager of the place and had no option for recourse.
Don't know what the fuss is about this place and can't imagine why anyone who lives in New York will go there given the excellent other choices.
Cool place to eat but read on..
I like the setting, up the stairs overlooking Madison Ave. was fun. But. I expected a bit more with the $20 minimum per person. A middle aged lady at the entrance, long dark hair seemed to be the hostess but did not seem happy to be there, no smile the entire time, I did not feel welcome. She brought us into a bare restaurant and began to seat us against the wall when there was an open table for the 5 of us by the window. The waitress suggested the window table to us, urging it and the one already seated and the rest of us just followed her lead.
The food overall was very good. Four dishes were ordered and I really only have a comment on one. The Crepes.....too much red sauce. (Possibly a tad too much on the lobster ravioli but it was very good) It overpowered them so much that I wouldn't order it again. Oh, and my iced tea was the size of a small coctail as was a seltzer with lemon.
Service was confusing. Our waitress took our order and delivered our small drinks and she never checked on us again. We had to ask bus boys for water, more bread, more wine. Oh, they went to retrieve the waitress to order the wine. Towards the end of the meal, another gentleman seemed to take over and was attentive. I had seen her standing over by the little bar seeming to be watching her tables, not that there were many customers, but she never once checked on us the entire time we were there. Annoying.
I think if you want to charge the price and want return customers you need to make sure each person is doing there job. I will not return with my out of town guests and will not recommend at this time.
awful service and expensive.
The only pros is that they make a good pizza margherita
Any other dish is mediocre.
However, the thing that really annoyed me was the service.
The waiters/waitresses are rude the service is slow and you have to ask for everything you need.
Last but not least it is expensive for what you get.
Great Pizzeria. My roommate and I both love this place! The UES location is probably their best, although I've only been to one other one. the food is good and simple, basic Italian menu and the pizza is delicious. it's a great low key place with nice decor - good for special events or simply a casual dinner.
Super!. I loved this place! Simple dishes were well done, making them seem like more than just a salad or a pizza. Great range of food - I had an excellent atlantic salmon dish, great for if you are in a grp where not everyone wants pizza. Very good Sangria (not too sweet) and the wait staff was friendly and attentive. I do suggest going during the warmer months when the second floor is open, cause it gets really crowded when there is not that additional seating.
rodent in dining room.
My husband and I had dinner at Serafina tonite and there was
a rodent running around the dining room. It was absolutely
disgusting. All I could think about was that there must have
been rodent excrement in the food.
Horrible experience.
HORRIBLE SERVICE - RUDE AND WANTED TO CHARGE ME $15 FOR DELIVERY - ONLY 2 AVE AWAY!!!.
I AM ONLY 2 AVENUES AWAY FROM THEM (ON THE SAME BLOCK) BUT OUT OF NO WHERE (I HAVE ORDERED FROM THEM IN THE PAST) THEY CLAIM THAT THEY WILL NOW CHARGE ME $15 FOR DELIVERY!!!!! SHE WAS SOOO RUDE. I TRIED TO EXPLAIN OF HOW CLOSE I WAS AND THAT I HAVE ORDERED FROM THEM IN PAST, SHE PUTS ME ON HOLD FOR 20 MIN TO ONLY COME BACK AND SAY, "YOU WANT IT OR NOT, ITS $15 EXTRA CHARGE FOR DELIVERY".
THAT IS HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!!!! THE FOOD ISN'T THAT GOOD FOR ANYONE TO BE SUBJECT TO THEIR RUDE STAFF.
Great pizza!. Had lunch here today. Ordered their margherita pizza as an appetizer and I loved it. I regret ordering their vegetarian lasagna. Hate to say this but it tasted BAD. My friend had their spaghetti with lobster in a spicy sauce and it was excellent! Service was good.
