Walking into this small, understated boutique, you wouldn't guess that some of the flashiest, most innovative eyeglasses in the world are made by Alain Mikli. Most of the frames are hidden away in columns of black drawers, but the helpful salespeople can offer you a glimpse into the Mikli vision of distinctive spectacles, which has spread to over 30 countries.
The Goods
Mikli merges high technology with high fashion to create glasses that are more symbols of identity than mere corrective lenses. These are the ultra-hip specs you're likely to see in futuristic movies or on music stars like Bono or Elton John. Geometric shapes, creative color combinations and unusual materials like acetate, titanium and buffalo horn, combined with design elements like double temples and invisible hinges, make them hard to miss. All that coolness comes at a price of course, but this is one fashion statement you can wear every day.
