Come for a relaxing afternoon tea. I've never stayed in this hotel, but I've come for afternoon tea. This little hotel, a gem in the British tradition, has a lovely dining room that makes me feel transported out of the city. The place is large, yet cozy, quiet and calm, and a perfect locale for tea.

They offer the usual items, finger sandwiches, scones, sometimes strawberries, and then little cookies and pastries. If you want to rest a bit after shopping in the Bloomingdale's area, have a good talk with a friend, or just eat a civilized meal, come to the Lowell Hotel for tea and resume your life restored!

An intimate hotel with the feel of a private mansion.. The Scene
The hotel has the feel of an immaculately outfitted gentleman's club replete with in-room libraries, gilt-framed paintings and cushy armchairs of fine leather. And when it comes to dining, you never have to leave. Rich with jabots of chintz, Chinese porcelains and a needlepoint rug, The Pembroke Room serves breakfast, a refined afternoon tea and weekend brunch. The Post House is an above-average steakhouse that attracts the socially prominent.

The Details
Many rooms feature wood-burning fireplaces and fully equipped kitchens. Each is individually decorated with fine carpets, antiques and such decorative accents as Chinese porcelain bowls, bronze figurines and botanical prints. They also have Italian marble bathrooms with Bulgari amenities. The beds have Scandinavian down comforters. The Penthouse has a terraced garden, while the Gym Suite boasts a separate exercise room. The most spectacular room, the 14th-floor Garden Suite, has two terraces with a fountain and manicured flowerbeds.
