The Scene
Formerly the most sought-after hairdresser at the renowned Jacques Dessange Salon, Yves Durif left the Park Avenue address and attitude behind when he set up his own shop in 1997. Housed in two sun-drenched floors of a brownstone on a quiet, tree-lined block, the elegant-yet-whimsical space plays host to a mixed crowd of uptown locals, magazine editors and even the occasional star (Durif's known Jennifer Connelly for years).
The Services
Expert in pleasant, unforced conversation, staffers are big on technique with a focus on hair health, as is evidenced by their exclusive use of Aveda products and dead-on advice. Don't be surprised if your stylist asks you to stand up during your cut--it's all part of getting the right balance for your face. Color experts are trained to determine the best hue to suit your look and personality; Pure-Scriptions scalp treatments and conditioning glosses are ahhh-inducing finishing touches.

I have been going to Patti for over 10 years. I have followed her from place to place and I wouldn?t do that if she was not worth it! I have very thick wavy hair, and wear it back often because I usually do not know what to do with it. Each and every time I leave her, my hair is pin-straight and I feel confident and beautiful. I couldn?t recommend her more!

If you want a perfect hair cut , go to Yves. I have had cuts in the leading salons in London, Paris, Rome, Adelaide and Singapore. I finally found nirvana with Yves. I have been flying in to the city from Michigan, for the past 10 years, for only Yves to cut my hair. It is perfection every time and I am not an easy person to please. I travel globally and have had to go for several months without a cut. My hair always looks perfectly groomed, even with vast climate changes, because of his skillful expertise. He is a true master of hair and a treasured find.

Yves Durif is a master craftsman. Over the years I've been to a bevy of haridressers from NY and LA to London and Paris. While their work looked good in the salon, once I got home and tried to do-it-myself the results were not so impressive. I have hair that looks easy to cut, but is deceptively difficult. Some of the hair is fine and straight and some is course and curly....and there's a lot of it. I've been going to Yves for over three years now, and every cut has been superb. He's an artist who knows how to make people look and feel their best.
