AVOID this Dr/Office. If I could write this review without a star, I would.

I had an early miscarriage indicated by light bleeding which seemed like a long period. I was referred to this office and when I called to make the appointment, I asked if they accepted Oxford insurance. The receptionist said they did so I went along with the appointment. The day of, I made sure to confirm, AGAIN, if they accepted my insurance and if there would be any out of pocket expenses other than the co-pay. I was told that all I had to worry about was my co-payment and that insurance will cover the rest. So to my surprise, I was more than confused when I received a bill for $1,553. I know that isn't even close to what some of you ladies were billed for but all I had was hormone level blood work done- twice. I do believe they are performing INSURANCE FRAUD. My statement was not itemized nor was there an explanation/breakdown of services. Despite all of the radio ads- please do your personal research on this facility before booking your appointment. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Hopefully something can be resolved without them sending my bill to collections to have it written off. My credit should not have to suffer because of their deceitful practices. I am beyond disappointed that they remain open to financially prey on women who are emotionally distressed and may not have an alternative. Please tell a friend, to tell a friend- do not recommend this place to anyone!!!!!!

I Advise You To Avoid This Dr./Office. My OBGYN whom I trust and respect very much, referred me to Eastside Gynocology. I called to make an appointment on a Wednesday. They were able to fit me in that Friday. I was beginning at a new job and my insurance was about to run out so I was highly pleased that they were able to fit me in so quickly. I verified with the receptionist that they "took" my insurance. She stated all that I would owe is my co-pay.

Thursday I googled the company and Dr., and found these numerous reviews. I immediately contacted Planned Parenthood but was unable to get an appointment in my time frame. I contacted Eastside about my concerns, explaining that I did not want to deal with them if they were billing my insurance as "out of network". I asked them to verify again that my insurance would cover the procedure. They stated again that they checked my insurance number/coverage and I was all set. WHY on earth I didn't call my insurance company direct is something that I will FOREVER regret because I am now being charged $26,000 since my insurance company only covered $300.

Numerous procedures in the office's claim to my insurance are duplicated--WHY I cannot figure out. This will be weeks on end of phone calls, letters and arguing. I am so heartbroken to be taken advantage of in this sensitive and vulnerable time.

I wholeheartedly urge you to reconsider booking an appointment with this company. I wish I never listened to my OBGYN.

Insurance fraud. I have had the exact same experience that countless others have had. I too had a D&C isn Sept. for a miscarriage. My OB referred me to Eastside so I did not think twice about going there as I trust my OB every much. As like others, when I called I was told that they did accept Aetna. The office was very nice and the staff was pleasant. I will give them that much. But at least 3 people had my insurance info that day and not one person mentiond that the Dr.s are out of network. I was told I had to pay $475 out of pocket and my insurance would take care of the rest. One moth later I received the bill for $33,000. I shrugged it off and figured insurace would pay the majority. In looking at the charges I noticed their fees were astounding. $4500 for an ultrsound, $10,000 for 10 min worth of anesthesia, over $1000 for an office visit. Not to mention the charges they had on their for services/tests they never even preformed, like an EKG. This all happened in Sept. I have not heard a thing about the bill so I assumed everything was taken car of. Until yesterday, when I received a bill for $20,665. I immediately called my insurance carrier who informed me that they infact are out of network providers. They also have not complied with Aetnas request to supply info about anesthesia or surgical procedures.

They are total scam artists. They mislead women at a vulnerable time and try to profit on it. I have already called the NYS attorney general, Erick Schneidermann and urge others to do so if they have not done so yet. I also filed a complaint with the BBB. Ladies, we need to do everything we can to bring light to this practice. Also, if your OB sent you there, please supply them with this info as they may not know what is going on there and need to stop referring patient s there. I can also hurt their reputations.

No matter what they say, you are out of network!!. I had a similar experience as other reviewers. When I called, I asked "Do you take my insurance?". I think this question implies "Are you in network?" I was told that they do take it (Blue Cross/Blue Shield) and I set up an appt. What they don't tell you is that they "take" or "bill" all insurances.... as out-of-network providers. They are only in-network for Medicaid, and maybe GHI. They bill ALL other insurances as out-of-network. I think that they are purposefully vague so that you set up an appointment at a very vulnerable time in your life. Then, right before your appointment, they call you back and tell you something about needing to meet a deductible and having to charge you $475 out of pocket. I needed a D &C quickly after a miscarriage, so agreed to this.

Only after the fact did I realize that they are completely out of network and billed my insurance company nearly $40,000 (yes, you read that correctly - forty thousand dollars) for anesthesia and the D & C. A D & C takes about ten minutes to perform.

I suspect that they are trying to defraud insurance companies by refusing to pay contracted rates. I also think they are attempting to defraud patients by hoping that patients will pay fees over what their insurance company will pay the doctors.

If you find yourself in a similar situation, your options are to contact Eastside Gyn and speak to them about adjusting your bill, alert the fraud unit at your insurance company, contact the Medical Licensing Board of NY state.

The care I received was perfectly adequate - no complaints there. But I think that their billing practices border on unethical and fraudulent.

Highly Unethical Billing Practices. I went to Eastside Gynecology because I had a partial miscarriage and my Gynecologist recommended I go there for a D and C. While the overall experience was as good as can be expected given the circumstances, I am now in the process of filing a grievance against them. When I initially called to set up an appointment, the first thing they told me was that the accepted my Insurance, Blue/Cross Blue Shield. What I later found out was that my insurance was not "in network". I found this out months later when I received a bill for $10,500. I believe another reviewer experienced this same thing. I am refusing to pay this of course, and am now in the process of working with my insurance provider in disputing this. Both myself and my health care provider are outraged at their business practices, and I just want to get the word out to as many people as possible about their shady business practices before experiencing this. It made a horrible time in my life even more so.

BILLING FRAUD. This office said they took my insurance (which they do) but they did not tell me they were not an in-network provider. Apparently you can take someone's insurance without having to agree to the insurance company's negotiated rates, which allows them to charge whatever they want and milk the insurance company *and* the patient for thousands of dollars. This is what I had done: an ultrasound and two blood tests. They billed $7,000 for that. Not a typo: SEVEN THOUSAND dollars. While the nurse and staff were actually quite congenial, I would avoid this place; if you must go, sort out the billing and get it in writing before you step foot in the office.

I called furious and their billing explained to me that the fees were based on the type of service and they worked with me on my balance, i explained i just lost my job! i submitted a letter of hardship explaining why i couldnt afford to pay the bill and my bill was reduced because i met the criteria for hardship. Although their fees are a lil high their billing department is willing to work with me on a payment plan and the reduction of my bill

Great office. Having an abortion was the hardest decision I have ever had to make in my life, but somehow Eastside made it easier for me. They took excellent care of me (exceeded my highest expectations). From the very first phone call I made to set up the appointment, I knew I would be in great hands. The girls were so friendly, helpful and understanding. It was like they knew exactly how I felt. I didn't think offices like this existed anymore. The doctors was also very compassionate and attentive to my needs. They made sure I felt 100% at peace with my decision. The recovery room staff watched over me closely, making me feel like I was there top priority. I pray that I will never have to make another decision like this again but if I do I will definitely be returning to Eastside. Thank you for making me feel like a human being and not just "another patient"!

They made a hard time easier. It wasn't the easiest choice for me, but from making my appointment to coming in for services, the staff at Eastside Gynecology really helped me. I had a million questions, I was a little scared, but I called the office, cancelled my appointment a few times, and they still kept reschelduing me until I was ready. I had a consultation to figure out what the best option for me was, and I really feel like the nurse walked me through every step, no pressure, whatever it was that I wanted. The day of my procedure, I wasn't scared, and when I was getting put under, I had the sofest hand in mine, I felt comfortable.

I spoke with billing prior to coming in, and they explained the cost, and what would happen with my insurance company, I returned all the paperwork my insurance company sent me (felt intrusive for them to ask so many questions (the insurance company)...I guess the subject is still taboo...one of the girls in billing told me sometimes these procedures aren't covered cause the kind of insurance people had, or if their employer doesn't include it in your benefits, that's crazy! Mine was covered, and I had to pay for part of the cost...but times are tough, and I just got out of school..I worked with their billing department to find a payment plan that suited my needs, and even got them to drop some of the balance due to financial difficulties.

It was the hardest choice I've ever had to make, and I felt like I had a bunch of big sisters holding my hand the whole time, who cared for me.

Thank You
