This museum is the city's only remaining example of a 19th-century country hotel.. In Short
Fans of Martin Scorcese's film "Gangs of New York" will gain a fuller understanding of Manhattan life during the 19th century by visiting this musuem. Tour guides speak about the era and the building, the latter of which features real and replica furnishings as they would have been arranged in the hotel. The museum specializes in historically geared seasonal events--such as winter candlelight tours and a ball for Washington's Birthday--some of which are family-oriented.
