Please Read! I had a bridesmade dress with a simple hem that needed to be taken up about one-eighth of an inch. It is three layers of fabric but there is no beading - nothing fancy. The tailor at the dry cleaner could have taken care of this. The only reason I brought such a simple job to Miss Isabel's is because she is close to my office, where the dress was shipped. I asked the tailor how much the job would cost and she told me she could not even provide an estimate. Because it was a simple hem, I did not probe, which I truly regret. I went to pick up my dress a week later, and she prefaced the conversation with "you know you had three hems on this dress." Then she showed me the price - $120!!! Then, to add insult to injury, she told me "you should always ask the price beforehand." When I reminded her that I stood there a week before as she told me she could not provide a cost estimate, she then said, "Well, how could I? Our prices are based on time and I could not estimate how much time this job would take." I was completely taken advantage of. Please do not let it happen to you!
