“The food is consistently fresh and delicious, the wait staff is friendly and attentive without hovering, and the prices are very reasonable.”
I would have to go to India to find a restaurant as good.. I live in the neighborhood and have been visiting Indigo for over 10 years. I have tried many NYC Indian restaurants, the expensive ones and many of the 6th street restaurants. My favorite restaurant is Indigo. Their basmati rice is light and fluffy, their curries are robust and soothing. Indigo has a fresh salad bar on the side so you can help yourself to cucumber, mint chutney and yogurt. Indigo has an all you can eat buffet for under ten dollars, which includes all you can eat naan and chicken tandoori fresh from the oven. They have fish on the menu, which you usually only find in the more expensive restaurants. The ambiance at Indigo is warm and clean, the service is genuinely friendly. I honestly can't think of a restaurant in NYC that is as generous. I honestly think I would have to go to India to find a restaurant as good as Indigo.
Light, Flavorful & Great Value.
I frequent this restaurant often as it is in my neighborhood and the food is exceptional. I highly recommend the Shrimp and Lamb dishes as they are light flavorful and only as spicy as you request. They have expanded their menu to included dishes of Lamb, and chicken vindaloo.
The dishes with sauces are truly one of the better dining experiences. They add that little extra something that makes you want to come back again, and again. The Chicken Tika Masala is an excellent example of how sauce can take a good chicken dish and make it even better.
The Waiters are polite and knowledable and always help me choose the best appetizers.
They have a lunch buffet that is second to none. High quality Indian food as fast food prices. Perfect for people bored of the same restaurants for lunch or the deli-style steam table buffet. What truly adds value to your meal is that if you call with a reservation or make a reservation on their website you will receive a 15% discount on your meal.
I have seen prominent New Yorkers from entertainment, high finance and diplomats (its proximity to the UN) come to Indigo to dine, maybe you should give it a try too.
Great food, great service, amazing prices. If you're looking to get away from the outrageous prices in Midtown, the Indigo is just a few quiet blocks east from Lexington & 50th and has great food at great prices. The restaurant only had two other people dining there when I went last week at 8pm on a Tuesday night, but they seem to have a thriving delivery business (free delivery). The atmosphere is pleasant, service is attentive, portions were generous, and the food was deliciously spicy. I ordered a sampling of three different appetizers with a side of rice and kheer and my bill came to $20! I wish I had found it earlier during my stay! Next time business takes me to Midtown, I'll go there again.
Wonderful atmosphere, great service, delicious lunch buffet.
Indigo is a delicious Indian Restaurant in midtown on the east side. It is a nice space filled with very nice wait service that is willing to do anything to please you.
The food was fresh, saucy, full of flavor and just very good.
I highly recommend this this place for some great indian food.
Favorite Indian restaurant and neighborhood staple. I have been living in this neighborhood for almost two years and my boyfriend and I have eaten at Indigo at least once a month since. It's definitely our favorite Indian restaurant in the city. The food is consistently fresh and delicious, the wait staff is friendly and attentive without hovering, and the prices are very reasonable. The lunch buffet is very high quality and inexpensive. The atmosphere is lovely to dine in; nice decor, clean, interesting but unobtrusive music. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great food. Great Service.. This place is unbelievable. The staff is so friendly and are eager to recommend a delicious dish you haven't tried yet or that isn't even on the menu. The price is MORE than reasonable and the food is consistently good.
fantastic. Basera a restaurant that has recently been opened. OK, I have dined at many Indian Restaurants in NYC, and after my dining experience here, I will never go anywhere else--Indigo is spectacular! The ambiance is warm and inviting, the music transcendental, the lighting perfect and the staff excellent The service was impeccable and they seemed to read our minds--I am not sure we will need a menu next time. There are so many delicious items on the menu we left the appetizer choices up to the waiter and was that a good decision--If you come here and don?t try the Bhel Puri (puff rice, cilantro, noodle, etc) as an appetizer you don?t know what you are missing--that complemented with the Vegetable Samosas, Bhajias (fritters) and other assorted items I cannot pronounce--wow! So for dinner, and I love spicy, I had the Lamb Vindaloo (requested spicy+), My Lamb was so tender and the sauce--I am still thinking about it! The spices warmed and reached its residual heat index just as I finished--whoa! Just in time, one more minute and I would have pulled the fire alarm, but was that delicious. Dessert--Leaving without trying the Kulfi would be like stopping 10 feet short of reaching the peak of Everest. Now, if only I can find an apartment near by.
