What Our Expert Scouts Say

A sister to Smith & Wollensky's, this similarly overstyled steakhouse serves mammoth portions of pretty-good meat; the difference being this place's signature pork shank, the size of which beggars description.

An amazing night. We went to M&P last night with a group of friends for the $75 prix fix all-you-can-drink dinner and it was absolutely amazing. The food was great and the rib eye was one of the best cooked steaks I've ever had. The wines were great as well. Our server, Jason was friendly and funny and we had a great time with him. All in all, we'll deffinitely be back for the prix fix menu-- it's the best way to start off a great night.

best meal. Had one of the best experiences I have had in NYC. I was in town for business and we were taken to dinner. We had a great time. The service and food were terrific and I will be coming back very soon. The whole experience was exceptional.

great experience. my friend and I went for lunch and just had one of the best times I have had. I ordered the lobster salad (which was amazing) and my friend had a steak which he really enjoyed. The server was very nice and helpful we had a great time and are planning on going back again.

Seriously unacceptable. I signed up on citysearch just to write a review of Maloney & Porcelli because I was so surprised at how bad our dinner was on Saturday night. My boyfriend and I are not picky eaters at all but we left there feeling like we would have been better off ordering a pizza. As an appetizer we ordered the crab cakes and the ravioli and both were very bland. As a main entree, he ordered steak and it had almost no flavor. I ordered the halibut and it didn't have any flavor either. Both were like a plain piece of meat on a dish with absolutely nothing done to it. The only thing we loved was the dessert. The cheesecake was phenomenal. But our bill came to $165 and many $50.00 dinner places in NYC would have delivered a more flavorful meal. I highly recommend looking elsewhere until this place spices up its menu a bit.

Great for groups!. Held an informal alumni gathering there last night, and it couldn't have turned out better. Making a reservation was super-easy, and the hostess was extremely accomodating (and even called me back day-of to confirm). Our table was ready as soon as we got there, and when two more joined our party, the staff was quick to find two more chairs. Our waiter was attentive and had a great personality, and the FOOD was AMAZING! I recommend the tuna, and the seafood appetizer was also phenomenal. Overall, great experience.

We eat here EVERY time we're in NYC. My husband used to work in Manhattan and ate here weekly. Now when we visit NYC, we make a point to dine here first. Yes, it's pricey, but the filet was so good we think about it for a week afterward; and the fish stew (like buillabasse) is the best I've ever eaten! In fact, I ordered it as the meal and it was perfect. We love the crispy sesame flat bread. No problem splitting the house salad, which has an excellent house dressing. The wine selection is satisfactory. I guess what brings us back every time, though, is the service. We find the waitors very attentive, friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is pleasant, not dim or loud, and romantic. We feel our dining money is well spent here! Highly recommended.

Perfect for Eating at the Bar.. This one of the best places in NYC to eat at the bar. The old-school professional Irish bartenders give the best service in town. They have had the same staff for years and do not have the high turn over of staff like many NYC establishments. The food is great, look for the white cheese pizza often on the special board.

A few new twists, but not much else here. As far as steakhouses go, there are finer outlets in the area. That said, Maloney & Porcelli did things a little differently in terms of presentation (the porterhouse came with several interesting garnishes on the plate) and the use of homemade steaksauce, but, on the whole, there is no reason to go here over any of the other steakhouses in the area.

Very good steakhouse. I've been to this restaurant twice, once for dinner and once for Sunday brunch. The food was very good. I had the filet for dinner and a filet and poached egg sandwich for brunch. Both times they got my steak right. The service was courteous and the place very clean and attractive. The appetizers and soups are huge. Be careful when ordering soup before a steak. You may not be able to finish it all. The Sunday brunch is very reasonably priced.

think twice. Possibly the worst service I have ever received at a restaurant of this caliber. Wrong drinks arrived, mixed-up drink orders, wrong cutlery removed, wrong dinners served, no dessert service. Coffee lukewarm at best.

I have had better service at a corner diner and it didnt cost me $300.00 plus.

Mind you the restaurant was almost completely vacant on a Saturday night at 8:00 PM! And we were seated upstairs in an empty restaurant.

The food was alright for what it was, and I'd like to have the pork shank again, but not at this locale.
