What People Are Saying About Peking Duck House

Peking Duck House
Owner
At Peking Duck, we prepare well in advance. Firstly air is pumped into the duck to stretch and loosen the skin, then boiling water is repeatedly spread over the bird, which is then carefully dried, the dried skin is rubbed all over with maltose, and the duck is then roasted in a hot oven for a period of time until the meat is tender and the skin crispy. Then the duck is served with house-made pancakes, green scallions, fresh cucumbers and special hoisin sauce.Private rooms available for Christmas parties.

Best Meal Ever.......Again
by LoveDuck
My wife, youngest son, and myself just got into NY today and we had already planned on having dinner at the Peking Duck House........I ate there for the first time several years ago when it was called Bamboo Garden. I have ate there several times since then and it never lets us down. I can't imagine a better meal than Peking Duck at the Peking Duck House. The Sake is not bad either......always good and always hot!!!!
Food is great, but service...well....
by A C W
Food...well, the duck is great, hands down! We usually go there just to have ducks. Only better duck I had was actually in the Palace (in Beijing, that is), where they used a thin steamed bun rather than a wrap.
However, Peking Duck House gets one star only due to their phone attitude.
For the past couple years, when we tried to get a duck or two for Thanksgiving of Christmas, we were told that they were sold out, and we should call in advance to reserve them.
When we tried to reserve two ducks to be picked up for Thanksgiving, we were told that we should just call 15 minutes in dvance, and that they've never sold out of ducks, and never turned anyone away. Basically, they are calling us liers, while it was only last Christmas when my wife and I went to get two ducks to entertin our guests, we were told that they only had 'last one' left, and the rest are to be saved for the restaurant customers because they are running out...
Well, good luck calling your customers liers...you get the one star for that 'SERVICE'.
Busy, fun atmosphere

Friendly, attentive service.
I'm not a fan of duck so I really can't comment on the specialty of the house- that's what everyone else in the rooms seemed to order :)
However, the HUGE prawns and broccoli were BA.
Great food and good times! A must go if you like chinese
by FoodieLifer
Been a customer for a few years running now and I would say if i had time to take a ride downtown I would definitely do so. Midtown is almost as good though. Had the grand marnier shrimp which are my favorite , as well as the seaweed fish which were like chinese fish sticks in a seaweed batter. Mmm. The peking lamb chops are a must try. Too bad it took me 2 years to figure that one out. All in all a very good experience so far. I havent had problems with the service but i guess its hit or miss. My friends and I had a great time drinking and eating there the other night. They will also do it spicy , real spicy if that how you like it.

Don't Even Think About It...

Couldn't believe the service here could be as bad as some of the prior reviews made it out to be, but it was. Absolutely some of the WORST service I have ever experienced. I would never go back again. Not even any alcohol available to help you ignore the inhospitable, unhelpful and downright mean staff - to a man, they act like the fact that you're dining there makes them either bored or angry. While our waiter was carving a duck, there was an entire line of staff standing against a wall doing nothing but waiting - I asked one if he could get me a glass of water and his response was to point to our own waiter (who was busy) and then turn away from me in a rude and dismissive manner. And, although the duck wasn't bad, the food in general was quite ordinary.
