A cozy palace where dream-sized desserts and ice cream parlor whimsy lull you into a fantasy of another day and age. Here you can buy a Tiffany lamp or teddy bear, dine on a hot dog or caviar, and sit at a table that Marilyn Monroe, Bette Davis, Andy Warhol,or Jackie Kennedy once sat at. Since 1954, the landmark Serendipity 3, has served delicious comfort food in a unique and entertaining setting. Whimsical dishes such as "Young Chicken Sandwiches", "Curried Chicken Almondine Casserole", "Bi-Sensual Burger",& "Madame Butterfly Pasta" has made ordering almost as fun as eating! The oxy-moronic Frrrozen Hot Chocolate is one chilly bowl of magnificence that renders the place a must visit. Lovers have proposed over it, & diets have been broken over it. From the "Can't Say No Sundae" to "YuDuFunDu", the desserts at Serendipity will satisfy the sweet tooth of all.

  58. Bottom line: Expect the hostess to be a little rude.
  59. You can't go wrong with the cold hot chocolate and a single order of the cakes can be shared by 2 to 3 people.
  60. It was understaffed and service was horrible.
  61. This past time I had a fantastic waiter (Dan/Danny- I believe).
  62. The wait staff is always amusing, the hostess glamourous and once in a while you get the chance to be enchanted by the proprietor Mr. Bruce.
  63. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive.
  64. Good dessert, staff is rude as hell
  65. Bad service, ridiculous prize
  66. Service was not friendly, they sometimes forget they are suppose to serve the customers and not herd them around like cattle.
  67. the service was bad.
  68. The man working the register in the small gift shop was extremely friendly and our waiter was polite and courteous.

  1. And the portions are good if you are Andre the giant.
  2. more like poor diner quality (though it cost about 15 bucks) The FHC is 8 or 9 bucks, but its HUGE and soooo good.
  3. Obviously the frozen hot chocolate is amazing, but the rest of the food is tasty, but overpriced.
  4. They have great food, and yes, it is over priced, but its so good that you end up not caring.
  5. The food here is great, and the portions are more tnan generous.
  6. The ice cream is the best in the area and the portions huge.
  7. recommend this place and the wait is worth it.
  8. little overrated, the food's not going to win any (legit) 4**** awards any time soon, but the desserts are amazing and the atmosphere makes it worth visiting.
  9. However; all desserts are amazing with huge portions.
  10. The frozen hot chocolate was good but pricey.
  11. The desserts are great, but overpriced.
  12. great nyc dessert joint, strictly, be prepared to wait about an hour and a half for a table, don't be roped in to buying overpriced tourist trinkets or the mediocre diner food, eat dinner at another place, make a trip here, stick to the abundant spectacul
  13. Deserts are affordable, but only for few menues.
  14. think that the prices are reasonable!
  15. We went and had the frozen hot chocolate which they are known for, It was fantastic and worth the wait.
  16. The ambience, the fantastic deserts, the decor all of it was straight out of the movie and by far worth one if not several trips!
  17. There were children everywhere, the restaurant is terribly crowded with loud, subtly obnoxious people, and finally, not all that cheap considering what you were getting.
  18. The food was good, I ordered omelette, it was huge, I ordered frozen hot chocolate.
  19. It did, however, take 30 minutes for our waiter to take our order, but he was pleasant enough and the food was good and not terribly expensive.
  20. My husband signed on the check "overpriced awful food" and the waiter wasn't even offended, he was actually cracking up.
  21. The food is somewhat expensive.
  22. The Food, as well as desserts, is wonderful and served in abundant portions (and worth the prices).
  23. The portions are huge!
  24. While the wait is long, and the waitstaff is a bit pushy, this restaurant is completely worth the wait.
  25. The portions are very big.
  26. Serendipity was incredibly overrated, (the decor was not "whimsical" at all, and the food was way below average, as well as being very very overpriced!
  27. One of my favorite spots is this gem of a place where the food way over weighs the prices.
  28. The first time I went there Iwas expecting a magical experience, I was met with a near claustophbic attack due to bottleneck congestion in the foyer, andso so food, a huge frozen hot chocolate that frankly I could easily make at homeand a bill for 78.00.
  29. Btw, the price is ridiculous, what kind of an ice cream would be prized at 10 dollar?
  30. The generous portion of Frozen hot chocolate was yummy but not the fantasy it is advertised to be.
  31. The dessert prices and overall prices are reasonable.
  32. The prices are expensive but the portions are large.
  33. Things here are expensive, so if you really want to try the place out, have dessert, which really is wonderful and HUGE!
  34. The desserts were excellent but not worth the hassle, crowded environment or PRICE.
  35. the thumbs up - huge and delicious deserts.
  36. By the way, I order a cheeseburger which for 13 dollars was really small.
  37. And, although the food may seem overpriced to some, the portions are large and the food is very tasty.
  38. The food is way overpriced and not good, but the desserts are to die for and this is why this place is still going strong.
  39. But skip the overpriced entrees and appetizers; the dessert portions are gigantic and filling.
  40. I'm sure I'm not alone with being in shock of how expensive dining out has become in the last several months.
wait time

  1. Our waiter, on the contrary, was very nice and gave us free french fries, since we had to wait so long (and we never inquired about the wait; he took it upon himself to apologize).
  2. have been going to this place since i was 5 (18 now) and i can say it is really one of my FAVORITES from the sandwhichs to the foot long hot dog(my fav) even the frozen hot chocolate i LOVE this place!
  3. The long line isn't fun, but stick it out.
  4. mean, yeah, the service is generally a little slow and/or unfriendly, and yes, you have to wait.
  5. Service was a little slow, but given the small space and the crowd of people that kept coming it wasn't that bad.
  6. It is not a bad place to have these monster deserts, however from making reservations, they are rude and the actual service is slow.
  7. The restaurant was cramped and the service was slow.
  8. Of course it took another 30 minutes to order and get the desserts, but at that point, I guess I was even surprised it did not take anymore time.
  9. The service was slow, the food so-so.
  10. It then took 30 minutes until we could order our food, and nobody warned us about the fact that it would take another 45 minutes to prepare the Curried casserole!
  11. The service is friendly and generally helpful, although a little slow at times.
  12. It did, however, take 30 minutes for our waiter to take our order, but he was pleasant enough and the food was good and not terribly expensive.
  13. decided to order the famous foot long hotdogs which was decent, not great.
  14. The staff was not happy to see me at all, half the items on the menu were sold out and the cappiccino was folgers left in a kettle too long and covered up with milk and a dash of cinnimon.
  15. Serendipity is always a ridiculous long wait.
  16. While the wait is long, and the waitstaff is a bit pushy, this restaurant is completely worth the wait.
  17. Our waiter was very nice, however, he was very much overworked, thus, the service was incredibly slow!
  18. To make a long story short, we were very impressed with the service and food, (good enough for 5 subsequent trips each year) and we even met Mr. Steven Bruce, who owns the place, and he seated us at the same table that the movie was filmed at.
  19. This is a wonderful restaurant just make sure you have reservations a long time in advance.

We tried Serendipity 3 for the first time and it was absolutely out of this world! We ordered the famous frrrrozen hot chocolate and the Cinnamon Fudge Sundae. I was so happy that my husband and I decided to order to the Cinnamon Fudge Sundae because it was unlike anything else I'v ever eaten, it was out of this world scrumptious. The BEST dessert that we've ever had. The Cinnamon ice cream was delicious was an amazing surprise, it was absolutely the best and well worth our 15 bucks. I can't wait to go back!!
