“went there with some freinds on a Monday night, a relaxed atmosphere and good music, not too loud at all.”
“The drinks are reasonably priced and the happy hour deals are great (especially 2 for 1's!”
“The food is pretty good and the staff is always friendly and fast.”
“T.G. Whitney's is a great place to spend the night.”
“wouldn't recommend it if you're just a few people as an empty place may not be too much fun, but if you're going with a large group and not looking to meet new people, it's a great deal and lots of fun.”
“So basically its rip-off unless you like those beers and cheap vodka.”
Fun afterwork spot. I really enjoyed your Karaoke last thurs! And 2 for 1 happy hour was great while it lasted. Keep up the good work!!!
Great bar ok food. I visited TG on a Thursday evening with a few co-workers. The music was great but extremely loud. This is a great place if you are in the mood to groove, not such a good place if you want to be able to have a conversation. The service was great but the food was just average.
Not a good value.
I have been hitting bars in this neighborhood for about 5 years. After Fubar and CB6 went down we had to find a new local watering hole. There was a happy hour scheduled at Black Finn with coworkers but that place gets so over-packed we thought we would walk down the street and give T.G. Whitneys a shot. About the only good thing is that we had space. At the end of the night I realized why we had so much space. The prices were high, I think I got 1 free beer on a $120 tab. Shots of Patron were $10 each and use the smallest of shot glasses. If you are just going out with friends once in a while and want to try someplace new and you are not looking for value this place would work since you should have space. They had karaoke that night and was not impressed, if you want karaoke you are better off at a bar like Brother Jimmys.
Forgot to mention, they did have a buy-1 get 1 free deal, but it was only for like bud light or some other non-premium beer. Other bars in the area have either fixed price all-you-can-drink for an hour or two or true half-price or buy-1-get-1-free happy hours and this covers all drinks, even top shelf.
One of the few places for good karaoke.
Honestly I was surprised. I've tried a few of the so-called karaoke hot-spots (2nd on 2nd, Sing Sing, Keats, Iggy's) and have been disappointed by pay-for-play nonsense and catering to regulars.
This place did not disappoint. I was here on a Friday night and it wasn't too crowded, just enough crowd for a fun and exciting rotation. The sound and book are good. The KJ was very friendly and wasn't one of those that needs to sing every 4th song. I don't even remember if he sang.
I'll be back and this time I'll bring some friends.. My only suggestion is a slightly less awkward setup. It feels like the gear is all over the place and I almost tripped over the main speaker. Other than that, good sound and good songs!
Editorial Review. Midtown party bar hosts weekday happy hour and private events across two floors. American fare is offered for the professional crowd.
Great Prices, Fun Bartenders. This bar is a great place to go afterwork. It's got great music and a very fun crowd. Not too many frat boys! The prices are just right- It's nice to go out afterwork and not break the bank. Thanks to the bartenders for hookin' me up with song selections! Will be back.
Great Karaoke Without a Crowd. We went to celebrate my husbands birthday with about 15 friends and had a blast. We didn't want to rent out a private karaoke room, so we figured we'd brave the crowds, but it was almost completely empty except for us for most of the evening (it was a Sat Night). So we pretty much took over the place and the karaoke - it was like having a private karaoke room without having to pay for it, with more space, and the bar right there. I wouldn't recommend it if you're just a few people as an empty place may not be too much fun, but if you're going with a large group and not looking to meet new people, it's a great deal and lots of fun.
Great After-Work Spot. My co-workers and I have been going to Whitney's for happy hour for two years, and we always have a good time. The drinks are reasonably priced and the happy hour deals are great (especially 2 for 1's!!!). The food is pretty good and the staff is always friendly and fast. It's a great neighborhood spot for anyone who likes a laid-back bar with good service.
Perfect upstairs party room!. I worked with Frank and he set up a great party for me. Gave us the entire upstairs room, drinks were great, patio was perfect. A success! highly recommend this bar for any get together or party!
Manager is terrible. it was suppose to be OPEN bar for my corporate party... but so much liquor was not included, how is that an open bar? and He stopped the OPen bar before 11pm when we were guarenteed till then.
