Tips for Sutton Place Restaurant & Bar

I went to this place in 1976, and had a
devestating experience. My date and I were the only two people in the restaurant. He ordered a white wine instead of red wine by mistake.
The waitress went bat crazy yelling loudly at me and verbally abusing me! I thought she was having a nervous breakdown.
I could not believe what was happening! They all acted like this was normal behavior. I am a native New Yorker and have NEVER experienced a restaurant like this. I have NEVER forgotten that experience.
DO NOT GO HERE. Its not worth it with all the other choices you have in the city. You might get scarred for life.

Good food but horrible service. I enjoyed the cozy ambiance and paste entrees with my date. However, that was all detracted from by the less than helpful and arrogant servers. Took way too long to get our meals and drinks and I honestly can't see myself coming back here.

Rude and disrespectful - full review to follow. After my recent experience with the manager and the "bouncers" which I will document in a later comment - I would advise any one to frequent any one of the other numerous bars in the area. These people are real scum and just know that your $$ are going to people who really do not care about their repeat customers in any way.

like the rooftop bar. I just recently ventured to Sutton Place for the first time since living in NYC for a few years. I really enjoyed myself. Its very low key and a great place to grab drinks with friends and chill. This may have been because it was a Wednesday night so I cannot speak for the atmosphere on the weekends. I recommend this place.

Great food!. Recently ate at Sutton Place and the food was outstanding! Hats off to the chef!! It's too bad I had to wait so long to be seated, but the food made up for it! I will be going back again!

I found your establishment too expensive but I must compliment the food. Great pasta!!

We have been there several times and in the the past, the staff has been rude and disrespectful.
In the past 2 months, the food has gone from "eh, okay" to "AWESOME.". Was the chef changed? If so, COMPLIMENTS to the chef!! I think the management has changed also, as the place is more cozy and friendly. Great place for a date or even just to hang out with friends. Great place to meet new friends as well.
The atmosphere of the establishment is now one of the best in Manhattan and I HIGHLY recommend it....

the guy on the phone was a dick. the guy on the phone was a dick. i wanted to order my sister a drink for her birthday and he was way to lazy to even listen so he just hung up on me. then he wouldnt pick up the calls untill i tried again from a restricted number. he is a f*cking dick

Oh Stop it's not that bad..... I never usually write reviews but was surfing this sight and was extremely surprised by the amount of negative reviews. I work in at another bar a block away from Sutton and have gone there after work quite a few times. The bouncers and staff have been nothing but a pleasure, especially Bobby (a bartender) who often works the roof top or middle floor. The drinks are never lacking a substantial amount of alcohol. However I refuse to give five stars because I don't particularly find the crowd appealing.
