Delighted at Desmond's.
Tiffinni Saint Ranae and Her Band With Special Guest Contortion Dancer Amazing Amy had a very pleasant time performing at Desmond's Tavern. I wonder if we and Vicfirth5bb were in the same venue! We were there the same night he was! Although Hurricane Irene scared off many patrons and attendance was sparser than usual, we gave it our all and between the stellar musicians, Tiffinni's sensational singing and Amazing Amy's fantastic flexible dancing feats, we captured the attention of every person in the place. Folks got up from burying their noses in their drinks at the bar in the front and came to the back room to enjoy the show.
The facilities were fine, the stage was plenty large enough for the musicians and the dancer to perform, the place was well lit, and I saw no vermin or nasty little uninvited critters anywhere.
Tiffinni Saint Ranae and Her Band and Special Guest Contortion Dancer Amazing Amy would be happy to perform again at Desmond's Tavern anytime!
Now available for bookings! Can perform for full length evenings or shorter sets!

My band played there last night and I've never dealt with such rude people in my life. The beer was over priced and the food was nasty. That prick behind the bar with the glasses was one of the biggest cock suckers I've ever dealt with in my life.
First, we asked him if we could prompt the door open so we could load in equipment and he said "No, we're not paying to air condition the sidewalk." Ok, I totally understand no big deal... Second, he said he wouldn't give us any drink or food deals because he said he'd be "loosing money" by cutting us a break. Then, the a&@hole had the nerve to cut us off after only letting us play for 30 minutes because one instrument was too loud. Instead of asking us to play a little quieter he just straight up cut us off... after we drove 5 hours from Ithaca to play there. He gave us no gas money and couldn't look us in the eye afterwards. Real class act, and a real coward for having the sound guy tell us for him.
When I left I hocked a huge loogie on the stage and told the guy to "Fu&@ off." I don't recommend this bar for any band to play at.. there are plenty of places to play in NYC, avoid this one at all cost.
Oh, and there were mice in the bathrooms as well.
Great Specials!. Desmonds is a very nice place to hang. They have awesome lunch specials and just recently added drink specials to their menu. The staff is very friendly and they always make you feel welcomed.
Quirky Bartender that's great on the eyes!.
This place has really changed since the first time I went there a couple of years ago. The place has been pretty much upgraded, not quite fancy but much better. The food is acceptable and the employees are friendly.
The one thing that stood out was the hot bartender! And who would have known that he was a wise bartender! He knows his history for sure.... My friends and I went there the other day and they finally have drink specials. Including Cosmos! (3pm to 6pm)
Anyway, if you're going to have a girls night out, start at this place! Or even if you want to enjoy a drink by yourself! And tip him well because soaking up that face, arms, and the booty just made my wine even sweeter!
Worst Bar in the City. What more can you say about this place other than it is frequented by racists and anti-semites. If you're looking to find the most unsavory parts of society than find your way to this bar.
Cabasite. Serious frogger bar. Treat yourself to a solid stale crisp or else why not try the big buck shoot em up game. If you're lucky you might come across Alex in there - the quickest draw in the west!!! Don't get fooled into playing with him though - he'll hustle you for every penny you own!!!
Desmond's aand Brian are #1. Desmond's was the highlight of a great New York trip. The beer was cold and Brian ( the Irish bartender ) was beyond funny. If you want to drink and have your brain tested by a quick witted bartender go to Desmond's. To those who don't like a sticky floor or want to inspect bathrooms ask yourself what are you doing in a bar to begin with.
Great old fashioned Pub. This isn't the type of place you bring a date. Meaning the floors are occasionally sticky and the place doesn't always smell like sunflowers. But it's a great old fashioned Irish Pub. The Bartenders are classic. They're such characters and they're very friendly. The atmosphere is layed back and the prices are decent. You can expect sports on the TV's but dont expect fancy plasmas or LCD's. The food is decent, typical pub food (burgers, fries, some pretty good wings, etc.) It's a great place to hang out, have a drink and chat.
THE Worst! Avoid at all cost. (Should really get NO stars...). I went to hear a friend play here recently. The bartender served my girlfriend a mixed drink that was simply undrinkable. I told the watiress it really was horrible and we politely requested a different drink. Anywhere else that wouldn't have been a problem. Here it was. The waitress came back with the drink and said the bartender wouldn't take it back and if we had a problem with that we should talk to him. My girlfried went and talked to the bartender who, according to her, promptly insulted her and refused to take the drink back. NICE! We were forced to pay for the drink - that never got drunk - along with other drinks we had. Other than that, this place is a dirty, smelly dive with crappy food. If that's your cup of tea, by all means go and waste your time and money.
Great Bear Selection, Friendly Staff, Good Live Music. Great NYC Pub. The staff is what makes this place great. When you go, ask for Brian (the proud Irishman). He's got a great knowledge of his homeland that he is more than happy to share. He's also got a great sense of humor. It's a great place to mingle with locals and people visiting from all over the world.
