The ultimate resource for T-square types.. The Scene
The Municipal Art Society runs this tiny but well-stocked bookstore, adjacent to the Urban Center galleries. Located in the glitzy heart of midtown, across from St. Patrick's Cathedral and LeCirque 2000, UCB gives MOMA's gift shop some serious competition. And it's not just the merchandise. Check out the exhibits next door or take in a lecture: Philip Johnson, Jacques Derrida and Rem Koolhaas have all stopped by.

The Goods
Any architecture, design, landscape, restoration or decoration title concerning everything from Romanesque cathedrals to Karim Rashid is bound to be here, though you'll probably need help finding what you're looking for on the tall, crammed shelves. The selection of theory, fine art and periodicals is also hard to beat. Even if you don't know Van der Rohe from Van der Beek, browsing here is enjoyably educational.
