I went over to Stitches East today to pick up some sock yarn and to my dismay the store is no more. There is a Museum store in it's place. Please be aware that the store isn't at the 52nd E. Location anymore. It's unfortunate because it was a great store with helpful staff, centrally located.

Wow. I'm not sure what most of the reviewers are talking about. I've been to Stitches East several times. I've always found a nice selection of yarn. The staff is eager to help, or allows you to browse if you prefer. The staff who have helped me are really knowledgeable about the product and stock. They've put stock to the side for me and held it for my return - how nice is that? They'll work through alternatives for you. They've knitted swatches for me on the spot. The store is knit-focused. There's often someone around who is knowledgeable about crochet. They have some lovely needlepoint canvases. Their prices are not what you'd find at JoAnn's Fabric Warehouse or Michael's Crafts, but it's the upper east side of Manhattan - what do you expect? I can't imagine how anyone can say the store is hard to find. It's on 52 Street off Fifth Avenue. How is that hard to find?

Stitches East has a great selection of beautiful and different yarns. I have always found the staff very helpful. I read some of these other reviews and find it difficult to believe it is the same shop. Something has obviously changed. I have been going to Stitches East for the past 6 months - it is a favorite of mine. I highly recommend it.
