Editorial Review for Brasserie – by Kiri Tannenbaum
In Short
A famed architectural redesign and a seasoned chef keep this striking spaceship-like restaurant on the radar. From the catwalk entrance to the showcase of arrivals on flat screens stretched above the bar--this spot was designed to see and be seen. The predominately male, dark suit-sporting clientele discuss raising funds in Dubai while munching on hearty lobster bisque, scallops with pork belly confit or classic burger with frites. The more intimate conversations occur in pod-like padded booths.

Insider Tips
Where to SitFor a front row view of the action, the main dining room is the place. For quieter conversation, there's a less conspicious back room.
The ExtrasCarb-loading is unavoidable as a full Parisian baguette is delivered to ever table, uncut, with a sizable hunk of creamy French beurre.

Brasserie is the ulimate dining hotspot -- exceptional fare, remarkable atmospheric flare and outstanding service. I consider myself a connoisseur of NYC dining, and I cannot express strongly enough how overwelming pleased I was with every aspect of Brasserie. It is a not-to-be missed dining destination for any occasion, including a romantic dinner date, business lunch or Sunday brunch. I even recommend it for occassions such as Mother's Day and Easter. They serve an amazing prix fix meal that trumps anything you'd get elsewhere. Complements to the chef! I'm confident that every one will agree that Brasserie is out of this world. In fact, this would be an understatement. You have not dined in NYC until you've tried this restaurant. My menu selects: escargots bourguignon, beet salad, long island duck, sea bass and chocolate beignets.
Pros: ALL
Cons: NONE

The food and the service is all that everyone's review says it is. The restaurant, however is cavernous--it is down a flight from the street level, and had very high ceilings. It does not have the makings of a cozy dinner for two. But as long as that's not what you are looking for, go to Brasserie.
Pros: Very good food
Cons: Cavernous setting lacking warmth.
