“If you want to go to a hair salon that will make you feel special, give you a great hairstyle and allows you to walk out feeling great about yourself, Vartali Hair Salon is the place to go!”
“The quality of the cuts, color and style along with the care of service makes this an exceptional salon amongst a sea of more pretentious and less skilled shops in the city.”
“good salon but overpriced, should have coupons for all”
“Anna makes my hair color look very natural and the color stays beautiful for a long time.”
FANTASTIC salon.
Another fantastic visit to Vartali!! The salon never ceases to impress. For my hair, Anna blended highlights so perfectly that they look soft and sophisticated, and she is such a sweetheart to talk to. As for the cut, this was my first time with Masato and all I have to say is WOW! He was able to instantly tackle my frizzy layers and make them smooth and polished, even after the blowdry wears off!
With so many issues circling pedicures now, I only trust Vartali for classic toes. Elizabeth does a great job of making sure that your nails are in top condition, and goes the extra mile to do so.
Finally, my eyebrows are only handled by one person, and that is Tatyana. I have always had difficult eyebrows, and with their natural undefined shape, they can be ruined very easily. However, whenever I visit Tatyana I am able to relax and know that I am in good hands. She has been able to take my difficult eyebrows and create a wonderful shape, that is never too thin and always enhances the rest of my face. If you are looking for someone to shape and style your eyebrows, sprint to Tatyana!
The only salon that I trust!. I have been a client at Vartali for the past three years! Before that I was bouncing around from place to place and never was satisfied with my hair. Now I can truly say that this is the only place that consistently makes me happy. They staff are always professional and friendly to me. My hair always gets compliments and now four of my friends also go to the salon. I think that all of the stylists are creative and understand me and my friends' needs. I tell everyone who asks that if you want to feel good about your hair go to the salon. You pay for what you get and I always receive the best haircut for me. They understand me and what more would you want from someone who is supposed to make you feel good about yourself.
SERVICE SUCKS.
THEY SHOULD GET RID STAFF FOR RECEPTION ESPECIALLY THE OLD HAG WHO THINKS SHE STILL YOUNG
WORST SERVICE
You must have been having a really bad day... sorry to hear it. We pride ourselves with our service, more importantly there's no need for personal attacks. Hope you're having a better day!
PERFECT for brides and bridesmaids. I went to Vartali for an updo for my wedding reception. I described to them what I wanted and it couldn't have suited me better. Not only did my hair look just as I had hoped, but the salon is a warm and tranquil place. Everyone who works there is extremely friendly and respectful; they're also good listeners. I continue to go there for hair cuts and color. I've been approached by strangers who have asked me where I get my hair cut. Some of these people are now loyal customers. This is an exceptional salon due to its talented staff and its unusually hospitable atmosphere.
GREAT CUT CUSTOM STYLE. I have had wonderful service and great cuts and styling here after 3 years of looking for a stylist that understands how to flatter my face shape and provide a "hip" look at the same time... I work in the film industry, so it's important to look modern, not overstyled or like a librarian. Piet is an artist, I have gotten nothing but compliments after his cuts. Highly recommended!
Exceptional skill -- with zero attitude. I've been going to Vartali for over ten years, and I can't imagine going anywhere else. After years of enduring indifferent service delivered with a condescending sneer at other midtown salons, it's been a joy to find a place that manages to combine exceptional professionalism with genuine heart. Marco has not only managed to keep my hair color looking like it did when I was 20, but, when my father died he saw me on an hour's notice and, when the color didn't take because it had grown out so much during my dad's illness, did it again the next day for free. Luke styles my hair with incredible imagination and flair. Tatyana performs the waxing of the gods, with a manicure to match. Elisabeth does the best pedicures I've ever had. And everyone, including assistants, desk staffers, coat checkers, and even technicians I don't even use, makes me feel like an honored guest. A true find!
NYC BRIDES- DO NOT GO HERE!!.
They are rude here. They know one basic wedding style (which is HIDEOUS) that they tried to give to me and my bridesmaids. It consisted of a cinnamon bun on the sides of our heads. They are unprofessional, uncooperative and they tell you one price and then charge you double!! They tell you later it is because you received "wedding hair" which I clearly did not!!!!!
Do not go here if you are picky and care about what you look like on your wedding day.
Do not go here if you want to be treated nicely with little stress on your wedding day.
Do not go here if you are counting on it being one price, because they will feed you excuses about why they charged you more.
Sorry you feel so strongly about your experience at Vartali but I must object. The rest of your wedding party must object too since they seemed very happy with our services. We've helped many brides enjoy their wedding day and we've never had one that was so confused. It is helpful when one is sure of their styles and accepts professional advice. You asked to change your style 3 times even after a tryout that you had agreed upon. We sincerely keep our promise, including pricing!
AWESOME experience. First off, I am the boyfriend of the woman who's hair came out AWEsome. She had had a few "not so great" experiences, so I took to the web to search for a salon with good reviews. I tripped over Vartali, and I'm so glad we did. Sweet Nora, the asst. mgr., slotted us in for the same day (it was St. Patty's day, so the madness was in the streets, not the salon!) with Jim, the colorist mentioned in the review I found. Jim has MANY years of color experience, and works morning, noon, and night. While not at Vartali, he does NBC early morning shows for the staff and guests of the show, sometimes doing as many as FORTY in a day. We left Donna's hair in his capable hands, letting him decide the color, highlights, EVERYthing! Less than three hours later (color, cut, AND blow dry), we were out. I sat in on four hour marathons as a boyfriend, and let me tell you...it's NOT fun. But Jim and Vartali have this down to a science. Donna's cut was left in the very capable hands of Antonio and he did a great job a s well. Mr. Vartali, the owner, could not have been more hospitable as well, taking great interest in our satisfaction. I read a review stating they "charge too much". But - I know, even as a male - you get what you pay for in this lifetime when it comes to this kind of thing. And to be VERY honest, we found Vartali to be reasonable, especially taking into consideration the amazing experience we had. FIVE stars to this 57th street staple in the neighborhood. You cannot go wrong here, and you will be thrilled with your results!!!
I've been all over this town trying to find great color and a fabulous cut.
I've been to at least 10 of the "best" salons in the city over the past 12 years that I've lived here. Not only do I find most stylists to be inconsistent but the tremendous expense of walking away without being satisfied has left me quite jaded.
A friend of a friend turned me on to colorist Michael and WOW...what an artist he is. He has worked on celebs and has an amazing clientele and he ONLY does color. He is a tru pro and I walked away from him with a blond that was so pretty in tone and shade and a great feeling. Then came Piet. WOW what an amazing stylist. He gave me exactly the cut I wanted...he is young, vibrant and creative. He knows what he is doing and his confidence made me feel completely safe. I sent a friend to him recently who also has been around the block with city hair dressers and she fell in love with his cut as well. He does the sort of cut that people will stop you in the street and ask you where you go.
So all this being said DO NOT walk but RUN to Michael for color and Piet for a cut. You will walk away feeling like a million dollars no doubt.
good salon but overpriced, should have coupons for all. a nice cut but i question whether out of ordinary. wish they had coupon for first timers, not just for student
