ANNEMARIE IS THE COLOR GENIUS OF THE CENTURY!!

Last night I was in tears, contemplating whether to shave my head or, somehow, keep it covered for the next year. I had a serious Hair Color Nightmare; thankfully, because of Annemarie from Rubann Hair Salon, my story has a happy ending.

Up until a couple months ago, I had been okay with the person who was coloring my hair. Then, one day, I got home after having my hair colored and looked in the mirror. I saw a mop of dark reddish-purple with carrot accents mixed in with my medium-brown curls with golden highlights. In fact, when I looked closer, I realized that my hair had more colors than Baskin-Robbins has flavors! I decided to live with it for a month, when I'd have to go back and have my roots done.

So, last week, I returned to the salon for my monthly touch-up. I told the stylist I wanted the color lighter, less red and evened out. I thought everything looked fine when I left, but when I got home and looked into my not-so-friendly mirror, I almost screamed! I thought my hair had an entire spectrum of color before, but I wasn't prepared for the range of blacks, purples, fuchsias and neon oranges that now crowned my head. A 2"-wide ring of BLACK circled the front of my head, from ear to ear, and was striped, zebra-style, with wavy strands of orange and purple--colors that don't do a lot for my pale skin and blue eyes.

So, I called the salon and made an appointment to have my color fixed. And that's where you came in--last night, me in tears. It was hard to imagine that my hair could have ended up looking worse after being "fixed," but it did--A LOT!!!!

I stayed up over half the night researching who in the city could save my hair. I narrowed my findings down to five people, and then read as much as I could about each. While they all seemed like they might be up to the challenge, the one person whom EVERYONE just couldn't praise enough was Annemarie from Rubann Salon. Anyone who discussed Annemarie did so with such reverence--as if she were some kind of miracle-worker. I figured, even if she weren't a miracle-worker, she sounded as if she could at least make my mane resemble something human.

After a sleepless night, I called Rubann and spoke with Annemarie. I explained what had happened, and she asked if I could come in within the hour, and, of course, I said yes. When I got to the salon, the receptionists at the front desk were extremely friendly, as was the woman who gave me the robe to change into. I was escorted to a chair, and within moments Annemarie--who would soon become my savior--appeared. She studied my hair, then brought me a book with different hair colors to see which one I wanted my hair to most closely resemble. Then she got to work. In a matter of no time, she had painted dozens and dozens of sections of my hair and enclosed them in sheets of foil. There was so much silver in my hair, if the sun had been shining in, I would have had third-degree burns!

There is no one nicer, calmer, more reassuring, kinder than Annemarie. You can't help but love her!!! She promised me I would leave happy, and three hours later, I did. Well, actually, that's not quite true. I left ECSTATIC!!! Annemarie hadn't just fixed the mess so that I could actually be seen in public again, she had made my hair look better than it ever had!!! In fact, I have already gotten more compliments on my hair in the few hours since I left Rubann than I probably have in an entire year!!!

Annemarie is my new colorist. Not only does she understand color better than anyone I've ever met, she understands--and delivers--the color that 's right for your face, your complexion, etc. Annemarie is now the only person I will ever let touch my hair with a color-laden brush!

I should add that, while I was at Rubann, I spoke to three other people who had become Annemarie devotees because she had transformed similar train wrecks on better!!!!!

I have been coloring my hair blonde for about 3 years now. i have extremely dark brown hair and went to over 6 salons trying to find someone who could actually make my color look natural and blended. I was always getting my hair fried and damaged. The blonde they would put in would look fake and horrible. I finally found Annemarie from Rubann Salon and went to her and i have never been happier with my color. I LOVE my blonde hair now i actually get compliments on my color all the time. It feels so good to know my blonde looks so natural and blended. I would recommend Annemarie to anyone for hair color. She explained everything to me thoroughly before she did anything, and discussed what exactly i was looking for in my color. I am so happy with my color and that i finally found someone who knows what they are doing!

If you are a blond you have got to see Annie. She is now at Gerard Bollei, and she continues to be the best colorist in town! She is young and fun and great to talk to. She has clients young and old and treats everyone with professionalism and respect. She gets you in and out and never makes you wait.

Everyone needs to try Annie for color. She could work at any salon in Manhattan-even the traditional "top colorists". She is the best!

I have never written a review on one of these sites before because I always felt that you never know if these reviews are actually true....but they are!! It's because of these reviews that I ended up at Rubann! Plain and simple, Ann Marie is amazing! My hair was a mess, brassy on top and grey/ashy at the bottom. I was so nervous to have someone else touch my hair because of all the trauma I had been through. My plan was to go to meet Ann Marie and get a consultation and then maybe check out a few other options before I made my decision. But the minute I met Ann Marie she just made me feel so comfotable and I really got the feeling that she knew exactly what she was talking about. I ended up staying that day and she fixed it right there and then! She was quick and to the point (which is rare for hair dressers) and my hair came out awesome!! I can not even begin to tell you what a relief it was to see my new and improved hair. I have seriously never met such an amazing hair dresser before...theres a reason why so many people have written amazing reviews! Thank you sooo much Ann Marie! :)

Annamarie is a goddess!

After another stylist left me with hideously dark, virtually Goth-looking hair (I am 58 years old, with extremely pale skin; this is not a good look for me), I was lucky enough to find Rubann's online ad for "hair color disaster repair in NYC." I called them in a panic at 6:30 on a Thursday evening; literally by 7 p.m., Annamarie was at work assessing the problem and getting ready to apply trillions of very fine golden highlights to counteract the darkness. Even at the end of a long day, she was patient and reassuring and incredibly skilled.

I've been coloring my hair for 15 years, with largely mediocre results, but Annamarie instantly transformed the worst color I've ever had into the absolute best. (She also emphasized that I should come back next week if there was anything at all that I didn't love--but I can't get over how totally great it looks. Even my normally hard-to-impress 21-year-old daughter keeps going out of her way to compliment me.)

It was worth it to have a hair disaster to find Annamarie. I can't even imagine going to anyone else from now on.
