Dr. Ruof is AMAZING!

I went to Dr. Ruof for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable going to the dentist actually was. Instead of feeling like I was going to an irritating doctor's appointment, she instantly made me feel at home and answered all of my questions with sincere kindness.

Besides her patience, friendliness, and gentleness as a dentist, her depth of knowledge and understanding in her field is astounding. She took the time to explain several questions and concerns I had using pictures, models, and a mirror. I was really impressed with how easily she was able to break down complicated information in a way that was digestible for someone who is not in her field to understand.

As part of my first visit, I had a number of x-rays done. I explained that I had two teeth that were more sensitive than normal and once the x-rays were done, she enlarged those teeth on a computer screen for me to see. She carefully examined the sensitive teeth and described exactly what was causing the sensitivity. To this day, I think about her explanation and try my best to follow her advice with careful soft brushing.

I would strongly recommend Dr. Ruof to anyone in need of a kind, intelligent, and extremely thorough dentist. I know I will continue seeing her for years to come!

I strongly recommend Park 56 Dental Group because they have an incredible staff team that is extremely talented who care about their patients, and go above and beyond to make them feel comfortable. Maritza Lopez, my hygienist, is a wonderful representation of this. She has always been so kind and her genuine interest in me as a patient has always made me feel at ease, and even excited, to go to the dentist. Her professionalism and exceptional care are reasons why I have made Park 56 the only place I will go.

I LOVE Dr. Ruof!

You read that right, I LOVE my dentist! Like everyone I had bad dental experiences as a child. No one likes to feel that loss of control, and I thought I would never ever get over it.

I avoided going to the dentist for many years because of these bad experiences, but thank God I found Dr. Laura Ruof through a co-worker.

To start, the office doesn't have that regular dentist office smell. You feel like you are walking into an upscale spa, with candles burning and calm friendly people. Seriously, every single person who works in that office is genuinely sweet and considerate. Everyone smiles, everyone helps, everyone cares.

Especially Dr. Ruof. She is fun and so smart, but more than that she is KIND. She genuinely cares about YOU, about your dental health of course, but also about your general health, your family, your life.

I really love how there's no cheesy dental office music! You can listen to her personal music selections or you can have your OWN music playing in the room (how cool is that?), watch tv, or just relax. She is so gentle I've fallen asleep in her chair many times.

When it comes down to the dental stuff, she definitely teaches me a lot. She doesn't just say "ok you have 3 cavities see you next week" she takes pictures of each tooth, uses models to demonstrate what she means, and draws me pictures. They have all the latest technology and I can see my xrays and pictures up on the screen.

Obviously I just can't say enough good things! I've sent at least 5 people from my office and lots of friends too. I've also been treated by Dr. Rabinowitz at Park56 when I needed my wisdom teeth out. Ruof and Rabinowitz are like the dental dream team!

it was 5pm on a late wednesday afternoon and my temporary bridgework that was done last year by a dentist in chicago broke into 5 or 6 pieces while i was snacking on some mixed nuts. i looked in the mirror and my lower front teeth, all the way to the molar teeth on the left side, looked like little fangs, with a couple of large spaces where i was missing some teeth. i must admit that i had procrastinated in getting my permanent crowns and now i was paying the price. one of my co-workers recommended that i call their dentist, dr gerry herman, a prosthodontist at park 56 dental group. i was embarrassed to say that i never even heard of a prosthodontist until i looked it up on google. i called the office and they said that they were going to close for the day pretty soon but that dr herman will see me as an emergency patient. at 6pm dr herman took a look at my mouth and said he will take impressions of my mouth and send it to his lab for new temporary bridgework and that because so many teeth were involved he would ask his lab guy to rush the case and have it back by friday morning. i almost broke out in tears and explained that i had my job review in the morning and needed to be at the top of my game. to make a long story short, dr herman asked his assistant if she wouldn't mind staying for a few hours. he proceeded to mix up a batch of temporary acrylic bridge material and molded it on to my teeth. then he had me go through a series of chewing and jaw movements until the material was set. finally he began sculpting and carving this block of acrylic until the bridgework was done, i think it was about 8 teeth!! it was polished and cemented and by 8pm we were done. the temporary bridge looked and felt better than any permanent crowns i ever had. this guy is an artist and a dental genius and one helluva nice guy. his assistant is wonderful and the office is beautiful and clean and modern. dr herman is currently working on my permanent bridgework. one last thing - dr herman discovered and diagnosed a gum problem that i never knew i had and his hygienist is working to correct it. i am very grateful to dr herman and park 56 dental group.

A Great Dental Find - Dr. Ruof is Amazing!!

Even though I have lived in the city for a number of years, I avoided finding an NY based dentist (I just stuck with my NJ based one) because it was just too exhausting and I didn't want to risk having a bad experience (I only go to the dentist about once a year, which I know is not often enough).

Anyway, I finally braved a dentist (not Dr. Ruof) that was recommended by a friend and I noticed after two visits that they were always suggesting little add ons - things like "oh you REALLY need to start using an electric tooth brush. we sell them up front." or "cosmetic procedures x and y would REALLY help protect your teeth in the long run". I started to get the feeling I was being sold unnecessary things, which left a really bad taste in my mouth because it is really important to me that I can trust the advice of my medical professionals. They even went so far as to try and make me feel insecure about my teeth color (which is pretty much a normal shade of white) to try and sell me whitening services.

I was ready to run right back to my NJ dentist, but on a whim (and a different friends recommendation) I visited Dr. Ruof. And she was great!! Not only was she super friendly and an extremely proficient dentist, she also dispelled a lot of the myths my previous dentist tried to pass off as facts (it turns out I do not, in fact, need and electric toothbrush). This kind of honesty, combined with the fact that she clearly explained everything she was recommending and why in terms I could easily understand, made me feel completely comfortable. She never once tried to "over-sell" me. And to top it off my teeth look great!!

I will never go to another NYC dentist. Dr. Ruof is a great find and highly recommend anyone seeking a dentist check her out as soon as possible.
