If you're one of those people who can't understand why anyone wouldn't like the French, then try registering for a class at the Alliance in New York City and you'll understand right away! The staff can be incredibly rude (and I speak as a longtime New Yorker who has never had this problem in Paris). They are inefficient, abusive, and ridiculously rude.
It's a shame because I've been told that so many of the teachers are good, but for the prices they charge and the amount of sheer nastiness that goes on there, you're better off someplace else. New York abounds in other places to learn the French language--especially at this price, which is not exactly cheap.
- Pros: nothing is worth being treated like this
- Cons: high cost, access issues, nasty staff
