Wow, there are a ton of false reviews on here. Many of them are clearly made up and laud Lia's "40 years as a top spa". However, many of these "reviewers" do not have any other reviews on the site and are so obviously fake. Take a look at Yelp to see actual reviews. CitySearch should disallow reviewers who are clearly working for the company.

The Best Facial I Ever Had, Hands Down!!!!!!!!

I review many spas and resorts all over the world and I was referred to the Lia Schorr Day Spa by a well-known dermatologist in New York. I had a facial with microdermabrasion. The facialist was very informative, soft spoken, perhaps one of the best things I noticed was how she left my skin feeling like it had a mini lift soft glowing and radiant, it was so clean and refreshed feeling, and how gentle the extractions were . This place really knows how to clean skin without leaving marks, which is not very common in spas. I was also very impressed by the way Ms. Schorr herself is organized and runs her spa. It is a very different spa, it’s very personable, welcoming and the service was impeccable. I usually do not write reviews but when I see bad reviews about this spa really irritated me because my experience was incredible. I just do not understand why anyone would write such bad things about a place that does such a phenomenal job and services this spa and the workers offer, especially Lia who is such a hard working lady, I can see why she has been such a legend for the last 40 years in the industry of service who really does wonders for the skin. I have seen many clients around me while I was there with such attitudes, were very judgmental, complainers, impatient, and disrespectful and do not really belong to any spa these are the people who just go to any spa that is offering a good deal and expect the world. There are many spas that have closed down over the last 2 years due to the fact that they were not organized and do not have the professional skill to hold on to a spa. I can really say that this spa is #1 in skin care in the city, the people that work there are truly professionals with a big heart, and over 30 years’ experience at the Lia Schorr Day Spa. The only thing that I can guess is that there are really some people who expect too much, are very impatient, and complain about every little thing and to be honest I don’t think these kind of people will be happy at any spa. The fact that this place offers incredible specials does not mean that they do not exemplify utmost professionalism. Not only will I be returning to this spa I definitely will recommend this spa to all my family, and friends. I also want to add to anyone who reads this review if you have sensitive skin, or have had facials in the past that left your face red, with marks or just were not happy with the results of your facial at other spas, or if it’s your first time and you are a little uneasy about these bad things happening to you, or if you have problematic skin and you WANT RESULTS! Then this is definitely the place for you.

Lia Schorr is the rudest woman I have encountered in a long time. Even though her employees are excellent at what they do, her behavior is so atrocious it undoes any relaxation you might experience in the spa. Look at the review on Yelp -- 1.5 stars!!! Incomprehensible how someone with her people skills could run a spa.

Lia has clearly been hard at work having people write fake reviews on here. This place is a nightmare. Check out her Yelp reviews where she gets a far more deserved 1.5 stars.

I am a high executive at a financial institute and a native new yorker. I travel all over the world in my profession, which has enabled me to try many different spa's around the world, and the best spa's. When I was home a few weeks ago I recieved an email from a friend of mine about a wonderful holiday package deal at the lia schorr day spa, which after hearing her name it had rung a bell I remember hearing her name for many years and how knowledgeable she was about skin but I never had a chance to try her spa with the constant traveling in my profession, so after finally getting a vacation off of work and with the change of season's and harsh I know it is for your skin i decided to purchase one of these packages. Upon arrival at this spa I was greeted by the friendly staff in the front. Alla was my facialist and by my previous experience in many of the best spa's around the world I can say All is a top of the line professional facialist. What I really loved about this spa is their approach on skin it is totally educational and exactly designed for each individual skin type. Alla knew right away that I was a traveler and actually took the time to explain the toll airplanes take on the skin, which no one at any spa has ever done with me before at other spa's.After explaining and educating me on how traveling is on the skin she right away enforced the importance of microdermabrasion & collagen and how it would change my skin forever and she was right, it really did make a huge difference. I spent and hour and a half with Alla and the reason I am writing this review is because this spa really deserves to be complemented on their professionalism, my skin has never felt better and stayed that way for nearly 3 weeks. I have the highest regard and compliments to all the professionals at this spa, especially to the owner herself Lia schorr who is a role model, how a woman can look and feel so good about her skin. I can't thank my friend enough for reccommending this spa to me, it is absolutely by far one of the best professionalism & results wise spa's I have ever been to.

Facial Deluxe Package! For my 40th Birthday I decided to invite five of my girlfriends to a spa. We all are international lawyers who travel a lot abroad and domestic. We are all stressed out, jet lag, experiencing lack of sleep, and dehydrated. The flying severely takes a toll on our skin and we do not have much time to spend with one another as friends. Going to a spa together was my suggestion. It has been so long since me and my girlfriends all had the opportunity to go out together, get out together, and spend qualify time with one another in a relaxing matter, escaping from work, and enjoying each other. I knew a spa would suit our needs to relax perfectly.

Anti-aging collagen facial. THE LIA SCHORR DAY SPA AND HER WONDERFUL ANTI AGING COLLAGEN FACIAL TREATMENT I RECEIVED ... OH MY GOD I WAS AT THE LIA SCHORR DAY SPA AND I JUST HAD A COLLAGEN FACIAL TREATMENT THERE. IT WAS VERY GOOD FOR MY DRY SKIN. IT REALLY TOOK OFF THE FLAKEY, DRY SKIN AWAY. EVEN ME EYES LOOKED LESS PUFFY. IT WAS WELL NEEDED. THEIR TREATMENTS WERE PERFECT FOR MY SKIN IRRATION.

I HEARD A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE GONE TO THIS SPA .. ITS BEEN OPEN FOR 30 YEARS, I WAS CURIOUS TO KNOW WHAT THE RAVE WAS ALL ABOUT .....

SO I ENDED UP GOING AND HONESTLY I LOVED IT. LIA SCHORR HER SELF WAS ATTENDING TO THE CLIENTS WITH SUCH GRACE. SHE WAS TELLING THE YOUNG ADULTS ON SKIN CARE TIPS. IT WAS NICE TO SEE THE OWNER INVOLVED IN THE MIX.

THEN THE SECOND TIME AROUND FOR MY VISIT I HAD A MINI MICRODERMABRASION FOLLOWED BY COLLAGEN TREATMENT, IT WAS EVEN BETTER. THE RESULT WAS GREAT. I HAD MY EYE LASHES AND MY BROW TINTED. I ALSO HAD MY LIP WAXED.

MY EUROPEAN PEDICURE AND MY MANICURE WAS ALSO WAS EXTREMLY GOOD, TATIANA WAS THE ONE THAT DID MY PEDICURE AND SHE TOOK HER TIME TO DO A PERFECT JOB. EUGENIA AND ALLA WHO ARE THE FACIALIST AND BEEN THERE FOR ALMOST 30 YEARS ALWAYS TAKE GREAT CARE OF ME. THEY ARE JUST WONDERFUL PEOPLE WHICH SUCH GENTLE CARE FOR THE CLIENT.

THIS PLACE IS LOCATED IN THE CITY AND HER TREATMENTS ARE AFFORABLE TO ALL. SO NO ONE HAS AN EXCUSE NOT TO GO TO THIS WONDERFUL PLACE.

INCREDIBLE MENâ??S FACIAL. I have grown a beard for about 10 years because the ingrown hairs really irritated my skin. I have known Lia Schorr from the 70’s when she worked at Georgette Klinger men’s salon. Lia was the first one that dealt with men’s skin and even then I had ingrown hairs and she had suggested to that I have electrolysis done which I took her advice and had for 2 years now 60% of my ingrown hairs are gone. I was so relieved I decided to shave my beard for a new look. I just got married and I feel young again it is such a refreshing feeling. I went to the Lia Schorr Day Spa after I have not seen her for many years and I was so proud but not surprised to see how far she has got and how admired she is by all of us. Her staff was incredibly pleasant and Lia herself gave me a big welcome hug I can believe she remembered me after so many years she is truly amazing and looked very good still and it was so wonderful to see very involved she is with her spa. I absolutely loved the microdermabrasion and collagen facial that I received by Eugenia she even trimmed by brows and mustache for me, I looked fantastic. It is such a good feeling knowing that I am in the right place that knows how to make a man feel good about himself. I will definitely be back in a few weeks to try my other services. I felt I needed to write this review because Lia and her staff really deserve the compliments, they are amazing people!!!

HORRIBLE TREATMENT FROM LIA THE OWNER. I've been to many spas in my day. The one thing they all had in common was spa etiquette. I was in awe at how the owner LIA spoke to the patrons and the workers. No spa ambiance what so ever when you get there, no greeting, no soft music, would you like something to drink, nothing. First i waited 5 min for the receptionist to acknowledge I was standing in front of her to check in, hmmm strike 1. Then I witnessed LIA scream at a patron "blah, blah, blah, you are getting on my nerves, come on let me find you someone for your facial but I cant do your friend" I and others sitting there were like WTH? The lady was pist because there was a 1.5 hour delay in schedule and she had set up a facial for herself + friend and was told only 1 could be done and to wait yet 1 more hour. Hell, I would be pist too. Then she had a staff meeting in the coat room and you could hear her scream at an employee who then runs out crying. Again, I'm like WTH? How are you supposed to relax at this place? The owner needs a class in spa etiquette. She runs the place like a sweat shop. I said something to one of the employees in spanish, a 2 min conversation only to have the girl reprimanded for speaking spanish. In front of all the patrons the owner yells to her, speak only English here, yet she herself was speaking to a man in Russian or whatever her language is. Again WTH? By far was the WORST FACIAL EVER. The tech was n the room a total of 15 min of my 1 hour facial. She put a cream, left came back, cleaned it, put another, left came back left came back. I left there with the same blackheads and whiteheads I got there with and paid for extractions. I've never had a facial that the tech was not in the damn room with me. **** The upside was that once I finally got to my massage, it was great. My mom loved her massage also. The nail girls were really nice as well. In the end the techs were very nice but by the time i got there i was agitated as all hell from seeing how this lady LIA treats people so there's no way in hell I will ever set foot in that place again.

My suggestion is that she hire a manager to run the place because her attitude will be the demise of her spa especially now that she has all these sales and so many people coming in. Reviews are going to kill her business. My mom said thanks for massage but she'd never go back, I was embarrassed that I took her there.

My wife and two daughters had a blast!. Lia Schorr Day Spa was mentioned on the radio with a special promotion that was a deep pore cleansing facial with a seaweed mask, manicure, and a hot stone massage. I am the father who loves to surprise my family all the time. They are always amazed how much I know about pampering women and beauty. The place was busy the phone didn?t stop ringing, there was 3 receptionists at the front desk who managed the place incredibly well. I had the pleasure to meet the owner she was very charming and pretty. She helped clients around. I was talked into having services as well by my family and since I am an easy guy I went along with it. I can see why people sometimes write unpleasant reviews about this place because this place is very well known sometimes people need to wait and New Yorkers definitely do not have patience for it. My family informed me at the end of the services that each one the services they had was extraordinary professional. Each one of the individuals that attended to my family were very kind, each service as explained thoroughly, I felt like I won the lottery bringing them here. It was extremely reasonable and the results were excellent as a matter of fact my daughters were afraid of having facial due to past bad experiences in other places. I was delighted when they raved and complimented the good choice that I made. I?m a pilot a real rugged guy who doesn?t deal much with nonsense but what this lady had created for all of us to come to enjoy and experience is definitely to be admired.
