“There are wide open spaces, large windows with views of the city and the staff keeps everything clean and tidy.”
“best customer service”
“Overall, I feel happy everytime I enter the Reebok gym and although it is pricey - It is worth ever dollar.”
An OASIS for those living in Manhattan.
Reading the complaints and negative reviews of Reebok, my only reaction was to laugh. WHAT planet do these complainers live on. The area has a lot of very high net worth individuals who I do see at the gym and hear complain about their decorator, their maid and their house in the Hamptons. But for those of us working hard and long hours in the city, who dont have a weekend beach house to escape to, a backyard, or a large, designer decorated private patio and love working out, the Reebok is a pure oasis. WHERE do I begin and WHAT are these people NOT GETTING.
I have been to the Equinox, was a member for years. The difference..is worlds apart.
I LOVE the Reebok because it is a place I can go and have enormous private space to myself, or be among other members. The locker room is huge, clean, relaxing and so convenient. I LOVE the Reebok because I can run on an outdoor track with wonderful views of the neighborhood on the UWS at 6am in the morning, THEN go swimming in their pool that also has charming views and natural light, THEN work out in an number of their gyms. The entire club is streaming with natural sunlight which is so inspiring for a workout. After being in an office all week, I want the sun!...and you can have it ...at the Reebok. After the workout, on the weekend I enjoy their fabulous outdoor patio, huge with great wooden lounge chairs in a completely open space allowing for maximum sun exposure all day. It is completely quiet, full of sun and a perfect place to relax and hang out. The Reebok is more like a private club. You can go and enjoy the quiet, solitute and space to relax for those who dont have a 3000 square foot condo or a second home. Its feels like an extension of your home.
Other perks...they have a great lounge and dining area, with huge window, natural light and great food. A complete juice bar and a great place also to just hang out with our laptop, New York Times and chat with other members. The yoga rooms are the best I have ever seen. Floor to ceiling windows, in a quiet Zen area of the club.
DO NOT LISTEN to the complainers in these reviews. These are the types that complain about everything. Just one visit is all you need to say OMG! !!! This place is great!!! For an extra $35 or so a month you get an extra $200 a month value over the Equinox.
Absolutly AWFUL!!!!.
This gym is absolutely awful!!! Not worth a dime. The bathrooms / jacuzzi have been constantly under repair and construction for the 2 years I have been a member reducing the facilities while the cost to be a member stays the same. The sinks are constantly without hot water, and a complete mess. The locker rooms which used to be manned by an attendant are now automated; therefore, there are towels constantly all over the place, people talk on their cel phones, and one person takes multiple lockers to the point where it is impossible to find open ones.
The people who work out at the gym are nasty, petty, and mean. The wife of the owner struts around wearing tons of perfume and hairspray in enclosed workout spaces like the spin classroom. Many complaints have been made against her but since she is the wife of the owner...When asked politely to change her habits, or even to move to another open section of the classroom she gets mean and nasty.
People who arrive last minute to classes, steal the places of people who came early and just stepped out to get water or a towel.
The staff while apologetic can do nothing. They even go as far as undermining the teacher's decisions in the classroom when 1 out of 40 people complain about something. I have literally been in a class when the staff came in to change something the teacher laid out and there was an altercation between the staff and the instructor.
This place is absolutely awful 0 stars!!!
Gone way down hill. I agree with the reviews about the "horrible management" since Reebok is no longer run by Sports Club LA. No one seems to care about the members anymore except for the staff who greet you at the desk. And with all the free passes Reebok gives out, the gym now appears packed with people who have no intention of joining but just want a free workout or place to hang out. The cafe has some people who look homeless and lost. It's depressing.
Horrible Management. This is really a mediocre gym at best. It's no longer run by Sports Club LA, and has been downhill ever since. The gym has old equipment and decor for sometime and slow to update them. You just feel current management really does not care about the place very nickel and dime. The equipment is always dirty and so are the showers. In 2011 the classes have been cut back and many of the great instructors have left. If you do personal training forget about it. It has taken me a while to find a trainer that really met my fitness goals. If your a serious athlete most trainers here will not cut it. What customer service, there is none. This gym runs on the reputation it developed when under Sports Cub LA and no longer deserves.
There really is no other choice!. I've been a RSCNY member for almost 10 years now and still can't understand why the complaining reviews still think there is anywhere better! Being in the fitness industry for almost 20 years has me trying out every gym, health Club and sports facility in the city and although some are nice, none ever really measure up to Reebok Sports Club. There are simply more options in a much bigger space than anywhere else. The Equinox member posts are kinda funny- they are getting one-fifth of the size Club at only $20 cheaper! Last time I was at Equinox I had to wait for a treadmill and hated working out underground. I've known so many Reebok members that used to be Equinox members because they upgraded. The only Equinox members I know that used to be Reebok members were ones that decided that a health club wasn't that important to them and downgraded to a smaller club because they hardly use it anyway and would rather save $20!
Great Place to go to everyday wowwww. Well, just by the appearance the first day that I went as a visitor made me want to joint the club immediately.
HOMOPHOBIC MANAGEMENT.
If it was possible to give zero stars, it would be more than the Reebok deserves. Apart from the moldy showers and tattered carpets, the management from the top down is shockingly homophobic. I had a very unpleasant experience, and you will too unless you are heterosexual with a holier-than-thou attitude. Reebok should be ashamed to have their brand associated with this joint.
Equinox is a far superior and costs less. Even the Westside YMCA is cleaner and has friendlier staff and clientele.
Avoid this gym!
Dirty, Rude, Completely Lost its appeal.. All the way up the the managers. Supposed managers. One day its he, no she, no one seems to really manage this place. Thats the problem. There are things going on in the mens steam and sauna, and the womens sauna and steam is loaded in unclean old feeling of no one cares anymore. This place used to feel fun, happy, and I loved going. Now its gloom and doom. No one has manners, professionalism, and the place feels old. It is not sanitary. Im going to Equinox now where it is spotless and you can feel it. They are cleaning constantly in there, and they are having fun 'WITH' the customers, not looking atthem like "what?" Too bad reebok was known as the best in its kind. THEY NEED NEW MANAGEMENT. There are a few male managers, who look like they want to drop kick you .
Not impressed. I did a temporary membership to try this gym out and see if it was worth $200 a month . The gym is ok - the equipment is pretty dated, the locker rooms are nice, having a pool is great. However, I left something at the gym and just called Lost & Found and can't get over the rudeness of the person I talked to. She would ask me a question, then put me on hold without even responding to me. The kicker was that when I told her I was pretty sure I left it there, she didn't say a word back. And then I said "thanks" and she just hung up the phone without even saying goodbye or anything in return. I was completely nice the entire conversation, it was so weird that she was so rude.
