This budget facility is situated in a European landmark-style building convenient to Lincoln Center. In addition to housing guests in the bulwark-like building, it schools adults in topics such as writing, sketching, yoga or massage therapy. This offers an opportunity to combine your holiday with an inexpensive educational retreat.
The Details
Billed as the "Miracle on 63rd Street," this place has the usual YMCA trademarks, but in gargantuan proportions. For example, all 500 rooms are clean and air-conditioned with color TVs, and you have a choice of a single room or one with bunk beds. It can feel like camp all over again. Bathrooms, as in a European pensione, are down the hall. The crowning glory is a 65,000-square-foot sports facility, with two pools, basketball, racquetball, squash, an indoor running track and exercise equipment. Guests are entitled to use the exercise facilities. Group rates are available.
