These women are brilliant! They altered my lace wedding dress to the highest standards. They are also friendly and very professional (and don't charge an arm & a leg!). Would definitely recommend.

These women are genius --. If "intelligence" is the ability to solve problems creatively, these women are GENIUSES. I have a pair of expensive jeans whose waist was too low, and all other tailors about town said that raising the waist would be very expensive surgical procedure--and that it wouldn't be worth the trouble and money. However, these ladies took one look at the jeans and figured out the most efficient solution: open and lower the crotch. I said I needed them back in express time, and they rearranged things to finish the work in one day. What other tailors were calling a $70 job these ladies did for $18, in a day. They're the best!

Beautiful job on a bridal gown. On the recommendation of a friend, I went to Silhouettes and Profiles to get an estimate on the alterations I needed done for my bridal gown. My dress has a lot of intricate lace and beading and and I really needed someone I could trust to take in the bottom of my dress, as well as bringing in the dress at the waist and fixing the shoulder straps. I'm a student, so when I came in for an estimate and the price was a little out of my reach, they worked with me to get the price down to something within my budget. From going to a couple of different tailors, I can assure you that most tailors do not do this. It's their initial quote or nothing. That kind of flexibility is enough for me to give S&P five stars, and that's before I even mention the beautiful work they did on my dress.

I went in for several fittings and at each appointment, the staff had my dress ready, were friendly, and very attentive to the details of the dress and the adjustments I wanted made. I was very pleased with the fit throughout the process but didn't really get the full picture until I put on the dress this afternoon for my final fitting. The dress looked exactly the way I hoped it would. The work was impeccable. The fit was perfect. And on top of that, they surprised me by taking a beautiful dress and making it my dream dress: though we had originally agreed to remove the lace with a scalloped edge from the bottom of my dress and just do a simple hem for a lower price, when I came in they had kept the original lace hem. I was floored. They told me that they couldn't stand to see my beautiful dress without the original scalloped hem. I was willing to make a concession for the price but they weren't - they did a lot of complicated, delicate hand-sewing for no extra charge because they knew it was outside my budget. I am extremely grateful for their generosity. Everything about my dress is going to be perfect on my wedding day!

I'll NEVER Go Anywhere Else For Tailoring.. Silhouettes & Profiles re-constructed the top of a very expensive dress for me - and the workmanship was impeccable. The fit was perfect.

I just went back to have a bridesmaid dress altered and they understood how to make it as flattering as possible with no direction from me - and even gave a suggestion to make the alterations less expensive.

If you are looking for a tailor who will make sure your clothes flatter you and fit perfectly, while maintaining the original quality of seams and hems - come here.

Also - the ladies are SOOO nice!! :-)

The only place I trust for vintage dress tailoring. For my wedding, I decided to wear my grandmothers 53 year old (non-preserved) wedding dress. While i love the dress, it needed a bit of tailoring.. fixed seams, smoother darting, and i wanted it cocktail length instead of a full train. I had my maid of honor research places i could trust, and Profiles & Silhouettes came up as the most highly recommended place, hands down.

Being on a budget I thought maybe it would be out of my price range, but i figured it was worth going in to check. The seamstress told me to put my dress on, and on the spot would give me a quote for the things i wanted... and if it wasn't what i wanted to spend, no problem i could walk out and it wouldn't be an issue. Not only was the price WAY below what i thought it would be - i could tell from the dresses on the wall around me that they would do a beautiful job.

Everything i wanted was listened to and delivered, and i was given excellent feedback of what would look best on me and would be best for the style of dress. I felt i was in excellent hands, and that i could trust the opinions of every employee. They made me feel comfortable leaving something so valuable in their hands, and made it easy to accommodate my schedule.

Aside from the amazing service, professionalism and ease involved with this experience, I have to say i felt the staff was genuinely excited to have helped be part of my big day. I was even asked to mail a photograph of me in the dress on my wedding day, along with a photo of my grandmother in it. I love that! Should i ever be in need of tailoring again, no matter how big or small, this is where i will go... and thats saying a lot that a brooklyn girl is willing to travel all the way to the upper west side.

I can not say enough positive things about them, and i would recommend anyone to frequent them.

A real treasure!. I have been using the wonderful and talented team at Silhouettes and Profiles for many, many years and cannot recommend them highly enough. Skilled and professional in their tailoring, delightful to work with, always reliable...they can look at clothes and imagine how much better they can make them look on you. They want it to work for you and take pride in their work. Everyone I have sent to them has thanked me many times over as not easy to find such a great place. They have saved the day many times for me, and were especially helpful with a bridesmaid dress that needed redeeming and made it work. I especially appreciate their honesty and they will say when something is not worth fixing or will be too costly for what it is. Saw that negative review below about a wedding dress, and it is so not my experience through many years...I suggest looking at the overwhelming number of positive reviews.
