Looks Like & Feels Like A Real Paris Bistro/Cafe.
This place is a find! Close to Lincoln Center and homey. It's intimate without being claustrophobic. The copper-topped bar and friendly bartender made us feel comfortable right away, and when the couple behind us spoke French the dream was complete.
Regulars keep coming back, so it must be good.
Dine at the Bar!!. I have had dinner here in the past with out a problem. However my last visit forced me to dine at the bar because I didn't have a reservation. Great for me!!. I was given the best and most plesnt service I have ever had in NYC on a Friday night. Although he never stoped moving to attentd to the many needs of others, his attention to me and all those around me was beyond compare. My Chicken-excellent, Drink-excellen, Bar Service AAAA++++
This fashionable Mediterranean eatery brings a taste of the Hamptons to the Upper West Side..
In Short
This restaurant, an offshoot of the celebrity-besieged East Hampton eatery of the same name, is enlivened by a copper-topped bar, an on-display wood-burning oven and a royal blue oceanic mural running along its walls. The menu sticks close to the Mediterranean-minded Nick & Toni's formula, with dishes like black sea bass roasted in the wood oven and lobster risotto. The sizeable wine list features selections from throughout Italy, France and California.
Subdued setting and above avg fare. We dropped by Nick & Toni's on a Monday night when another restaurant we tried to get in was busy and were relatively pleased with our meal. Staff was attentive, although the restaurant was no where near capacity. Enjoyed the Wild Boar Ragout and Warm Chocolat Cake for dessert. Like the warm pastel decor and mood lighting. Only gripe is high cost of unspectacular, yet adequate food. Proximity to Lincoln Center undoubtedly drives up the prices.
Surprised. After reading the reviews on this site before going to N & T's, I was not expecting much. However, I was very impressed with the meal. While the service wasn't so hot and the dining room smokey from the grill, the food was excellent. Overall, it was better than I expected.
Skip Nick's. This is one of the most overrated restaurant in NYC. Cold service, high prices, bland food. How do you prepare a pasta dish for $21 in less than 5 minutes? Since when do you use tomato heels in a 'Fried Green Tomato' appetizer. You would better served going to 'Olive Garden'. Same quality for 1/3 the price and a realistic atmosphere. Skip Nick's.
