Good food, nice atmosphere. This is probably the best Chinese place on the UWS. Great food in a really nice atmosphere. I've gone here a number of times in the last few months, and I've never been disappointed.

The only negative thing (and it's a small one) is that the staff sometimes can be gruff or slow to offer good tables, extra sauce, etc, etc. But they're very accommodating once asked, and on balance it's a great place.

Dear Paul,

Thank you for your review, especially the good part! But we'll continue to educate and train our staff to be more proactive in their hospitality. Thanks again!

Highly Recommended... Some of the best Chinese food I have had in some time. The menu is very extensive and has nearly everything you could wish for. I am a fan of the all inclusive dinner - run about $35 for two people and $16 or so for every additional person - it makes ordering easy and is quite tasty. Prices are reasonable and the service was great. Highly recommended!

Rude Delivery Guys. The quality of average chinese chain food does not merit the kind of grief you get from these delivery guys. I literally live a block away from this place and they still roll their eyes or grunt at the tip i give them, which is more than adequate. Also, you have to ask these people for napkins and utensils, otherwise they dont include them. Kinda ridiculous for the prices they charge.

Thank you for your posting. I do apologize for the service you received. If you could provide us with more detailed information about your order, perhaps we can better rectify the issue so such problems do not occur in the future.

Thank you

CHINA NOT SO FUN. This place used to be better. They've turned to the mediocre and bland. I even asked for extra spicy and it was still bland. Large menu, lots of choices, good for large groups, but not the "let's go out of the way place" it used to be. Staff is polite but cold and tries to rush the table turn-over.

Thank you for your review and your honesty. I assure you that we are working very hard at this time to address these service problems. For large groups, you'll be happy to know that we'll be adding music and banquette on our mezzanine to make it a more relaxing dining experience. Also, servicewise, we are reminding our staff to slow down the pace, as sometimes they do tend to forget. On the cuisine front, although I've heard less and less complaints since we reorganized the kitchen two years ago, I do take your comment to heart and will see to it that things are improved.

Thank You

Albert Wu

Any Stone Forest Chow Fun fans?. Does anyone know what happened to the Stone Forest Chow Fun? It was not the same the last couple times---It was always the same for years, dependably perfect ??? It was always one of my most craved for dishes. Thanks

I do love the place though--One Thanksgiving I took five people there and filled every inch of the table with our favorites. And we weren't arrested for not having turkey.

WOW!. This is not the China Fun that we know when we went away last year, and thank goodness it's a heck of a lot better than before--the food, service, atmosphere, everything. It just might become the best chinese in the neighborhood....

Great Neighborhood Addition. Even though this place has been on Columbus Ave for many, many years. I never stepped into it until after their recent renovation. The reasoning being that before it looked so much like a take-out joint. But now the place has absolutely transformed itself into possibly a mecca for dim sum and chinese on the UWS. The open kitchen is no longer and pushed back to the rear (thank you, tired concept) and the dining room has been expanded as a result. The food was delish and the service on par. Great job, China Fun People!

Best Veggie Buns and dim sum!!!. This restaurant has had a complete makeover, and it looks terrific, with high undulating wooden ceilings and a decor resembling a Chinese courtyard! And the food has also improved dramatically. We had a dim sum brunch last Saturday and even though the place was mobbed, the veggie buns came out piping hot, turnip cakes with nice and crispy outside, mooshy inside (the way its suppose to be) and not a slick of extra grease. The roast pork we had was tender and melt in your mouth delicious, and the waitress who served us was beyond accomodating, and even brought our daughter a mini dough boy made with dumpling dough!!! You can't beat that!

No MSG- No GREASE either. China Fun has begun a avalanche of curiosity. Its food is not only more health conscious, it tastes better than what the normal, run of the mill chinese joint has to offer. Their noodles dont leave that grease residue in your mouth and their veggies and meats are all the more tasty....
