The Scene
Some nights, it seems as if the entire Upper West Side is at Citrus, a loud and cheerful restaurant with branded tables, longhorn designs on the seat cushions and a tequila selection as long as most wine lists. Downstairs, there's a hopping lounge by the name of Squeeze.

The Food
The Latin food here alternately hits and misses. Winning appetizers include the robust romaine and pickled-vegetable salad, the selection of quesadillas and the cornmeal-crusted oysters. However, soggy grilled-squid tacos and limp fried shrimp served in a martini glass don't fare as well. Among entrees, the skirt steak and yellowfin tuna stand out. Desserts--including berry-flavored tortillas, a huge flan and a chocolate torte--are surprisingly good.

Well it had been almost 2 years since I had last visited Citrus... I never found the service to be any good and the food was always average (even though the menu makes it sound fantastic)... Anyway, today - father's day - I decided to try it once again, as many of my first choices did not have tables available. Well I should have stayed home. Citrus disappointed once again. Not only was the food below average, the service was down right poor... only to be topped off by the fact that the manager on duty - Natalia - dropped my father's father day present - a collection of photos - all over the floor and didn't even have the sensibility to apologize. She left them there and moved on. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

I went with two friends to what we thought was our local friendly restaurant, which we have been to many times. After waiting for an hour and a half (on a wait that we were told would be 45 minutes) they jammed us into a two person table and promised to "take care of us." Not only did they not take care of us (seriously, the manager, Natalia, did not do a single thing with respect to comping anything and was the single most unprofessional and rude restaurant manager that I have ever come across--actually despite her claim that she was, in fact, the manager, I tend to doubt it, since she looked like she just woke up and went to work in the clothes she slept in), but the wait staff was completely incompetent. Despite the food not being bad (it’s pretty mediocre), and I suggest you don't either....
