What People Are Saying About Josie's West

In Short – Teeming with shapely bodies, this health food haven could easily be mistaken for a health club commissary. Wheat grass and carrot juices are served at the bar, and vegetarian dishes are the norm in the dining room, where you'll also find grilled fish, tuna burgers and organic chicken sausage. Be prepared for the occasional celebrity sighting.

Healthy & Delicious

by keks

It was my first time eating here and I will definitely be going back because the food was delicious! I am choosy about my meats so I was excited to go to a place where I could feel comfortable selecting something other than veggie fare, and I was not disappointed.

My sister and I shared the grilled calamari as a starter, and for entrees she had the salmon and I had the filet mignon. The calamari was great but the salmon & filet mignon were even better. The entree portions were quite large too! The food was seasoned lightly (in a good way) and cooked to our specifications. It was perfect. My one small gripe is that they weren't offering the pork chop I saw on their online menu and I had my heart set on it. But that's minor when all the other available options were so good.

For dessert we had the chocolate pudding pie and the cookie dough ice cream pie - both were out of this world! And I loved the fact that they were made w/ natural ingredients but none of the decadence was left out. I like to have a choice when it comes to how indulgent I want to be w/ my desserts (even if at a healthier resto), and these choices delivered!

The one thing we could've done without were the cocktails (strawberry bliss and strawberry sangria) because they were really strong & my sister and I are lightweights. That may be a plus to most people, though :D Next time I'll try one of their natural juices instead.

Lastly, waitress Jennifer and manager Ken were extremely courteous and professional. I was a little worried about coming here after reading previous reviews about the staff but I had the opposite experience. They get a thumbs up all around from me!

  • Pros: good (& good for you) food, pleasant staff

Jesse was the nastiest waiter I have ever had

by maggie1980nyc

We were only there for forty-five minutes and the waiter told us to please hurry and finnish our dinner since it was busy. The waiter was pushy. We will never return. Save your money and go somewhere else where they value your money.

  • Pros: Food was okay but a little dry
  • Cons: Service/Price and I am angry at myself for tipping

WATCH OUT FOR THIS WAITER!

by jamesk1011

I've eaten here multiple times without complaint but after tonight's experience I had to post my opinion about my service. My waiter was terrible! I forget his name...he was an African American guy with a lot of anger! I'm sure you wouldn't miss him. Honestly in a time when unemployment is so high, you would think managment could find a better person. I'm a waiter too so I know what it takes to give good service. Its no doubt a very difficult job and waiters have to deal with so much. I could understand waiting to get my water refilled or having to flag someone down to get my bill... But eye rolling? And talking to me and every one around my table like he's doing US a favor? No. I was going to complain to the manager, but I figured I'd chalk it up to a bad night. It was busy, the restaurant was packed but after getting home, I can't let it go. Everytime he walked away from the table he'd mutter something under his breath, I'd rather he curse me out to my face! Also, he'd constantly yell at the bus boys and the food runners in front of his tables...not the way to make a good impression.

Food was good. I tried the black bean fried dumplings for the first time which were ok. The sauce is a little too sweet and sour. I'd much rather like a soy sauce or something. For my meal, I had the salmon which is always great. Love the sweet potatoes.

All in all, if you are greeted by that waiter definitely move tables.

  • Pros: Great food
  • Cons: Service from particular waiter

this place is terrible. the place used to be quite good but went there last night and had one of the nastiest meals of recent memory. the pasta with turkey meatballs was basically newman's own organic sauce in a jar dumped of cardboard dry meatballs over pasta. my girl's salad wasn't bad but the soup was inedible.

i should've guessed as much as the place was empty at 7pm, the staff was indifferent to surly, and the bread was 3 days stale. it is shocking how bad this place has become. i used to love this joint.

This is a wonderful restaurant! Food is fantastic and the service is always superb. My boyf and are frequent diners @ Josie's and we always have a pleasent experience. I'm a vegetarian, and he is very much a meat-eater, but this restaurant seems to have something to please everyone. I love the vgetable lasagna, and his fav is the macadamia chicken. Oh, the drinks aren't half bad either!

  • Pros: good food, excellent wait staff
  • Cons: None, really.
